1/ Paul Dacre promoted fascist hate, lies, xenophobia, scapegoating of minorities, anti-intellectualism and the fascist "Will of the People".

The Tories are desperate to have him as head of Ofcom. They are not just a kleptocratic party, they are a kleptofascist party.

2/ Here is Prof Timothy Snyder explaining how right-wing parties are using Nazi propaganda techniques to divide us into friends and enemies. Dacre's rhetoric of the "Will of the People" and division of the people into decent middle England & the chattering classes did just that

3/ Dacre's "Will of the People" rhetoric echoed that of Goebbels after a Nazi referendum victory. In both cases it was intended to divide the people into "The People" and their enemies and delegitimise the core democratic right to oppose.

4/ Regardless of whether he is a fascist or merely a cynical promoter of key tenets of fascist ideology, Dacre is a threat to democracy and utterly unfit to serve as chair of Ofcom. That the Tories want him in that role shows that they also are a threat to democracy.
