Crypto exchange FTX is dominating sports right now.

Current Deals:
• Tom Brady
• Stephen Curry
• Major League Baseball
• Miami Heat
• TSM (esports)
• Aaron Jones
• Mercedes F1
• Kentucky Basketball

They also paid ~$6M for a Super Bowl commercial.

Probably nothing.
Why are they investing so heavily in sports?

CEO @SBF_FTX says the data shows that "sports fans are 2x more likely to know about crypto than nonsports fans & avid sports fans are nearly 3x as likely."

Tom Brady & Stephen Curry both received equity in the company.
How are they able to afford it?

The total market cap of all crypto assets has risen from $395 billion to $2.5 trillion over the last year.

As a result, FTX has seen its revenue explode.

2020: $85 million
2021 (E): $1 billion

Something tells me they are just getting started.
FTX is using these sponsorships to drive customer acquisition.

Ex. At the Heat season opener, every fan received a free t-shirt with a QR code that gave them an NFT.

They also gave $500 in crypto to every fan in a specific section.

The catch? You had to download the FTX app.

LeBron James is a 17x All-Star, 4x NBA champion, and has made over $1 billion throughout his career.

The part you didn't know?

@KingJames is also going to send thousands of kids to college tuition-free, changing lives & transforming his hometown.

Here's the incredible story 👇
1) First, let's discuss the problem.

LeBron James is from Akron, Ohio, which, unfortunately, is one of the poorest cities in the country.

Poverty Rate
Akron, Ohio: ~25%
US Average: ~10%

The solution? Education.
2) Everyone loves to talk about how college is no longer necessary & how you can easily learn just as much online.

But the reality is that education continues be the biggest contributing factor to success, wealth, and prosperity within our country.

It's the great equalizer.

Kyrie Irving is extremely generous:

· Bought George Floyd's mom a house
· Paid tuition for 9 HBCU students
· Bought 200+ kids Christmas presents
· Provided 250k Thanksgiving meals in NYC
· Donated $1.5M to WNBA players

It's sad to see him called selfish for a personal decision.
1) I understand that he plays a team sport and ultimately hurts their chance at success by not being there.

But it's also ok to believe that the vaccine is helpful, yet that everyone can still make their own decision.

Just because you disagree, it doesn't make them selfish.
2) I don't expect this to be a popular opinion.

It's a divisive subject; some will agree with me, while many others might disagree.

Everyone seems to be perfect on social media. I get it.

Roger Federer is one of only six athletes to cross $1 billion in career earnings while still active.

The part you didn't know?

He left behind a $10 million annual sponsorship deal with Nike and turned it into a $600 million-plus payday.

Here's the wild story 👇
1) Let's start in 2018...

Roger Federer had been with Nike for more than 20+ years, becoming one of the most decorated athletes in sports history with 20 Grand Slam titles.

But when it came time to renew his $10 million annual sponsorship deal with Nike, things got interesting.
2) Nike had a loaded roster of tennis players:

• Serena Williams
• Rafael Nadal
• Maria Sharapova
• Nick Kyrgios

And there is an unwritten rule in the world of sponsorships — you don't spend over 10% of overall revenue on athlete sponsorship deals.

So what would Nike do?

THREAD: Meet Thomas Danel...

Thomas and his family attended the Spanish Grand Prix in 2017, eager to watch his favorite driver Kimi Raikkonen.

The only problem?

Kimi crashed out of the race on the opening lap, and TV cameras picked up an upset young fan — Thomas Danel.
2) After being made aware of the situation, Ferrari tracked down Thomas and his family.

They invited them to join Kimi in the paddock, and tears quickly turned to smiles as Thomas was presented with an autographed team hat by his favorite driver.

"It was great!" Thomas said.
3) Thomas and his family stuck around, celebrating Sebastian Vettel's second-place podium finish with Kimi and the Ferrari team.

But that's not even the best part...

Environmentalists tried to stop the Dutch GP from coming to Zandvoort for years.

They said that the event would endanger Zandvoort's dune reserve & counter its effort to fight climate change.

Here's a short thread on how event organizers made sure that wouldn't happen 👇 Image
1. This is how the Belgian GP ended last week.

Drivers completed just 2 laps with rain ruining most of the day, but fans at home were appalled at the amount of trash left behind by spectators.

Track employees spent hours in the rain picking it all up.
2. To avoid this in Zandvoort, they instituted a unique incentive-based plan to combat littering.

Here's how it worked...

This photo of Alex Honnold free soloing a 3,000-foot route on El Capitan in less than 4 hours with nothing more than a chalk bag is absolutely insane.
