Is Houston going to have to say goodbye to @TeamCJCorrea?
chron.com/sports/astros/…
When the Astros lost the 2019 World Series, their top free agent-to-be begrudgingly stood in front of the media "as an affiliate of myself."

Two months later, Gerrit Cole was $324 million richer and an affiliate of the New York Yankees.

@Astros star Carlos Correa faced a similar situation after Tuesday night's Game 6 loss to the @Braves.

But the free agent shortstop handled it by speaking honestly with the media, while at the same time thanking his teammates and the city of Houston.

Right off the bat, Correa didn't try to fill reporter's notebooks with clichés.

Instead, he answered honestly when asked if, during his ninth-inning at-bat, it crossed his mind at all that it could be his final plate appearance as a member of the Astros.

"It was the only thing going through my mind, to be honest," Correa said.

"A lot of feelings, mixed emotions. I spent seven years with this club. Yeah, it was going through my mind for sure."
Although Astros owner Jim Crane has said there's a chance he could retain Correa's services, the Astros have never paid that kind of money.

That's why Tuesday night's postgame media sessions felt like a farewell, including Correa thanking the Houston fans.

Do you think Houston will pay Carlos Correa?
We vote to sell the train if that's what it takes to keep Correa. (Sorry @AstrosTrainGuy)
