Incredible how so many are still not understanding what was always coming from leaving shared customs territory & shared standards/SPS territory
esp with (wanting) "divergence" ..
thus maximising the border processes & costs
inews.co.uk/news/world/shi…
For those wondering why "easier to order from India" again key word is "capacity". For non EU/UK freight traffic supply (customs & SPS BPs/systems/personnel)
meets demand.
Before 1/1/21 it did too for EU inc UK (internal market) freight: i.e. *zero* supply to meet *zero* demand
Now all are struggling with crawling up from *zero* supply to meet the same demands of non EU/UK demands.
"Why don't couriers/carriers divert capacity?"
Because that'll adversely impact on their other services, where if these services suffer they'll lose business to competitors
Better to continue to offer similar (shit) UK service alongside all other couriers/carriers...rather than risk diverted better (but still mediocre) service for UK freight
BUT then have their good *established* supply meeting demand services to/from other destinations deteriorate
Picture the scene: Jack & Jill experienced in customs & regulatory/SPS procedures doing a fantastic job on the U.S. services.
Jim with no customs or regulatory/SPS experience handled the EU/UK traffic.
From 1/1/21 I now need Jack & Jill's experience for Jim.
What would you do?
I forgot to add I now need an extra "Jim" with the experience of "Jack & Jill" ...where the experience does not now exist in the marketplace (to meet the new out of SM/CU demands)
....and where other couriers/carriers are trying to poach my "Jack & Jill"

My small business doing well in GB. I previously could look to Ireland, NI or continent to make some new contacts with no customs/market compliance extra hassles.I could throw a few exhibits & display equipment in back of my van & take onto a ferry still inside my internal market
to attend any exhibit across my continent. I now have the mammoth "red tape" of customs formalities inc RoO, carnets & proving compliance with health & CE certification. Please tell me how I will replace these business opportunities with your NZ "cutting red tape" opportunities?
Will I avoid the customs formalities including carnets (& certs of origin now needed for my former internal market) and the market compliance proof certifications?
How do I as easily exhibit there in NZ or indeed start making good 12,000 miles away cemented contacts. ?

So I (and others of course) 5 years long warned out of the SM/CU
regardless of *any* "Canada Style Deal"/FTA would mean

1) Reduced to wholly lost trade/service providing/working/retirement/travel rights & benefits across our continent. Tick
2) an intractable problem with the shared customs territory & shared regulatory territory across the British border in Ireland. Tick
3) pummeled and utterly fucked GB sales in EU as EU buyers progressively find other internal market suppliers. Tick
4) shortages and long term reduced choice at much higher rocketing prices in GB as EU suppliers without massively raised selling prices consider it not worth the hassle. Semi Tick (as UK Gov still too afraid to fully implement its brexit its side)

You know what gets me?...
The fact that media is even asking the questions along the lines of
"is Brexit responsible for logistics chaos and delivery issues"
shows how very clearly the UK is being gaslighted.
The internationally agreed *baseline* on trade is WTO rules.
163 (but not all the world's) nations have signed up to these.
However this is not enough for 162 members so members negotiate closer relationships in the form of various bilateral agreements up to Free Trade Agreements.
No country trades on WTO rules alone.

Ideal "job" in UK? I'd recommend everybody become a MP. Be paid extremely well to be ignorant &/or lobby fodder &/or vote to be (executive powers) redundant on full pay. You've nothing to worry about in lying your way to the top regardless of the known economic crash consequences
to trade; people's small businesses, livelihoods & jobs (...& peace)

You can can also remove people's extended freedoms across Europe in the perverse twisted name of freedom

as the public will always just collectively shrug its shoulders & continue voting for you anyway

Lol...I just wondered how often I had tweeted brexit much less (choice) for much more (cost) out of SM/CU warnings
after "suitable period of upheaval shortages"
(twitter search) as follows...
found these tweets back to Sep 2020
..I know I was tweeting long before that though

"Frost will tell the Tory conf. on Monday “the long bad dream of EU membership is over”
From a lad of Leeds 1960s working class background EU membership over my adult life has brought me increasing freedoms, rights and ease of trade across our continent. mirror.co.uk/news/politics/…
I shouldn't take it personally...but it saddens me that all I have taken so much for granted is robbed from a new generation ...
& the country just seems to accept it...
or even cheer it on with continued support for the cabal of crooks, charlatans & ignorant idiots in Government
