Dear Comrades

We are happy to announce that National Book Agency Private Limited (NBA) will start its online book store (e-commerce website). Comrade Biman Basu will inaugurate it on 7th November at 4: 00pm. The programme can be seen live from National book Agency Facebook page

We will sell not only NBA books, but also books from other publications, particularly left and progressive books in Bengali,English and Hindi. For the time being the books will be available within India only.

This new venture could not have been possible without the guidance and active cooperation of Left Word comrades and particularly the young comrades from Hyderabad who spent their valuable time for this. This comradely gesture has encouraged us immensely.

I request you all to please follow the site and give your suggestion so that we can improve.

#NetajiSubhashChandraBose born on this day in 1897 had no patience for communal politics. In his book "Indian Struggle" he criticises the Hindu Mahasabha. He writes:

“The Hindu Mahasabha, like its Moslem counterpart, consisted not only of erstwhile Nationalists, but also of a large number of men who were afraid of participating in a political movement and wanted a safer platform for themselves. (2/n)

The growth of sectarian movements among both Hindus and Moslems accentuated intercommunal tension. The opportunity was availed of by interested third parties who wanted to see the two communities fight, so that the Nationalist forces could be weakened.” (3/n)

Education is in the Concurrent List in our Constitution. It is a gross violation by the Central government to impose a New Education Policy unilaterally bypassing all the objections and opposition recorded by various state governments.

A new policy of such a nature needs to be discussed in the Parliament. This was assured by the Govt earlier. The draft is, as per norm, placed on the table of the Houses with a statutory time limit within which MP can move amendments/give opinions.
