Philippine Movement for Climate Justice (PMCJ) national coordinator Ian Rivera lists frequent, stronger typhoons; severe flooding among the effects of the current climate crisis on ordinary Filipinos.

PMCJ says Yolanda victims are "still battling for survival" on the super typhoon's eighth anniversary.

PMCJ: World leaders must address immediately the reduction of greenhouse gas emission.

PMCJ: At the rate greenhouse gases are emitted, we'll go beyond what's allowable and what's the target.

PMCJ on PH's target reduction of 75% in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030: It's a really low target if you compare it with the Paris Agreement commitments.

PMCJ: Since our energy's still very dependent on coal and fossil fuels, the immediate target is to phase out coal before 2030.

PMCJ on PH's shift to renewable energy: There are movements in terms of renewable energy but in terms of what the climate treaty requires, it's very, very snail-paced.

PMCJ: There aren't much policies pushing renewable energy to take over the energy mix occupied by coal and fossil fuels...the laws are there but not enforced, there are still policy gaps.

AC Energy on promoting sustainability: We stepped up efforts 4-5 years ago when we saw renewables getting more and more competitive in terms of pricing, efficiencies of technology.

AC Energy: We're going all in on renewables; we think it's what the world needs today.

AC Energy: Our main technologies are solar and wind. We have some relatively small investments in geothermal energy.

AC Energy on renewable energy prices: It should allow for more stable pricing moving forward especially because renewable is fixed, there's zero variable cost. All your cost is driven by your capital expenditure.

AC Energy on further pushing for renewable energy: Appetite's already there. We have policies in place...there's still a need to enforce a lot of policies. We're still waiting for the renewable energy market to come alive; reserve market.

AC Energy: Given that renewable energy should be complemented by ancillary plants to stabilize the grid, we need these markets to be implemented.
