I believe our party is pretty united - and last night wasn't a far-left or moderate thing. But we need leadership who can get it done. BBB and Infrastructure should have been negotiated and passed before August recess. We should have been focused on voting rights in the fall.

There also needs to be accountability & consequences. Can't tell you the amount of times I hear from our voters how we worked to take back our government, but nothing is happening. People do not feel safe. Biden needs to fix this - maybe change AG. We need public hearings.
2/
There needs to be a sense of urgency from our elected Democrats. There is way too much complacency, which led to voter apathy. Why do you need so many long recesses? Stay in DC and pass things so the voters who worked to get you there feel seen and their issues addressed.

House Oversight Committee releasing financial docs this morning provided by the GSA which show despite Trump crowing about all the money he was making, Trump Hotel DC lost more than $70 million while he was in office.
Documents also show Trump received an estimated $3.7 million from foreign governments and received preferential treatment from Deutsche Bank when the bank allowed Trump to defer payments for six years.
Trump also had to inject Trump Hotel DC with more than $24 million in cash from Trump Org to offset losses.
Hillary is warning us again!
"Now they’re not only going to try to suppress votes on steroids; they’re going to try to change the way elections are determined. They’re going to try to give legislatures the power to basically throw out elections." theatlantic.com/politics/archi…
Nothing is more important right now than protecting voting rights. Our democracy is quite literally hanging in the balance. Congress must focus too on passing Klobuchar's voting rights bill.
I worry that there is a sense of learned helplessness among Democrats. I am trying to rally people for 2022, but there is a sense of exhaustion and we worked take back the gov't, but there is no accountability or progress. Democrats need to get bills passed, and AG needs to act!
The Editorial Board of the Boston Globe calls for Trump to be prosecuted. Hear hear! If there isn't accountability, those 4 years will be a dry run. apps.bostonglobe.com/opinion/graphi…
"Saving American democracy for the long run requires a clear condemnation of the Trump presidency. That means making clear that no one is above the law."
This x 1000!
"Norms in a democracy are only as good as our willingness to enforce them."
I too have a story to share about Yashar Ali. I met him at the same 2008 event for prominent Hillary supporters as Susie Tompkins Buell. Shortly after, Susie formed WomenCount with West Coast supporters. 30 East Coast supporters formed The New Agenda. 1/ lamag.com/mag-features/y…
The New Agenda's role was to speak out against sexism. And to promote women into leadership in both parties and in all spheres. We were among the first to speak out against sexism against women of both parties.I wrote back then for Daily Beast and HuffPost as head of the org.

I had met Yashar. We kept in touch and he knew about my orgs work. Our paths crossed more closely when Hillary ran again in 2016. We actually were pretty close. I am gay, and I was one of the first people he came out to. I have an inbox full of gushing messages on FB.
