RECAP OF ANAMBRA GOVERNORSHIP POLL

1. Going into the Anambra governorship election, eighteen candidates were vying to succeed Willie Obiano.

2. Nkem Okeke, the deputy governor of the state, defected to the APC weeks before the election and many thought it would weaken APGA. But did it? Well, he lost in his polling unit.

3. The election, which had low voter turnout, commenced late in many polling units, owing to the late arrival of INEC officials.

4. YIAGA says INEC officials were on time at only 17 percent of the polling units.

5. There were widespread reports of BVAS malfunctioning.

6. Incidents of vote-buying were spotted in some polling units

7. There was no significant report of a security threat from IPOB or ESN.

8. No major report of unprofessional conduct by security agents.

9. Based on results announced in some LGA collation centres, Chukwuma Soludo, candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has won seven LGAs.
