Upon receiving the said money from the businessperson, Hushpuppi asked Chibuzo to design a decoy website to decieve him that he had secured the loan ad that he can transfer the funds.
While the deal lasted, Chibuzo kicked against the amount he was being paid by Hushpuppi and planned to alert the businessperson of scam to gain his favour.
The socialite had thereafter instructed Kyari to ensure Chibuzo is not released from detention and ensure is properly dealt with to which the top detective agreed.
Hushpuppi then asked Kyari for an account number where he can sent money for his team that spearheaded Chibuzo's arrest. Shortly after, DCP Kyari provided a Zenith bank account, which does not belong to him, for the payment.
But after their conversation, Hushpuppi reached to Kyari to discuss what transpired and again appealed to the officer not to release his rival on bail. Kyari also agreed to do his bidding.
While the deal was ongoing, the businessperson noticed that Juma was defrauding him. After this realisation, Hushpuppi decided to take advantage and reached out to their victim, still pretending to be Malik in the US bank.
The businessperson, seemingly desperate, had agreed and made the payments in separate transactions of $100k and $80k respectively. Hushpuppi, however, kept the deal away from Juma.
Amid the development, the businessperson eventually realised that he was also being defrauded by #Hushpuppi.
Others indicted in the scam include Bolatito and Morayo. They allegedly provided US based bank accounts for the businessperson to transfer to before laundering the money to #Hushpuppi.
Hushpuppi used proceeds of the scam, which according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) report amount to $1.1 million, to acquire citizenship and passport of St. Kitts among others.

OPINION BY SIMON KOLAWOLE: Nigerian politicians and their gunmen | TheCable bit.ly/3cctiqn
.@simonkolawole: In my article, ‘A Nation Surrounded by Gunmen’ (February 28, 2021), I lamented that the political authorities are making it difficult for the security agencies to tackle insecurity because of their coded messages.
After reading the article, a retired police commissioner gave me a call. He emphasised just one thing from my article: “Nobody wants to be sacked.” By the time we ended our long conversation, I was totally downcast.

Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba must surrender ethnic identities to Nigeria | TheCable thecable.ng/igbo-hausa-yor…
@FredrickNwabufo: We need to build a Nigerian identity. All ethnic nationalities must surrender their individual identities to a Nigerian identity. Like it is in Rwanda, it can happen in our country.
We, the Igbo, the Hausa, the Yoruba, the Fulani, the Ijaw, the Esan, the Urhobo – and all other ethnic nationalities -- should surrender our ethnic identities to the Nigerian identity.
