We can either sit on the sidelines, let the perfect be the enemy of the good and get absolutely nothing done.

Or we can work with the majority we have to get legislation passed while working to expand our majority to make better legislation possible.
We never would have got gun laws passed in our very red legislature in Florida if we refused to support legislation that didn’t include an assault weapons ban.

Lives have been saved because the laws we passed- had we refused to come to the table people would be dead right now.
One way to completely screw yourself and everyone on your side electorally is to refuse to pass legislation that you aren’t 100% happy with.

Pass the legislation, deliver for voters and work to get more people who agree with you elected.
The part of the job of organizers is to change culture and politics to push to make those in power change their stance and to expand our majority to make better legislation possible.
Note that I said part of the job. The job is much bigger than electoral politics

If we lose our majority Biden will be impeached and it will stop us from doing literally anything for the next two years.

Some progress is better than none.
We need to expand our majority with better candidates in the Senate and house to pass better legislation.
This would be a lot easier if we had a proportional form of government but we don’t. We have one that’s always been controlled by corporations- if we want to get that money out of politics we have to expand our majority and pass massive campaign finance reform and much more.
Have have 0 chance of doing that or passing comprehensive voter rights protections if we lose our majorities because we refuse to pass legislation and deliver for voters.

Studying history has made me realize the system isn’t broken it’s doing exactly what it was made to do.
It was never about helping people, it was about making a few men richer and using the 99% as Canon fodder to protect their wealth.
The system only ever helps people when the that wealth is threatened (typically by war) so they need us to buy into the system more- they do so by giving us a tiny amount more of say, money and resources.

We shouldn’t increase the military budget one cent until we get universal healthcare, free college, eradicate homelessness, massively reduce poverty and address climate change.

We just have to prioritize feeding the American people instead of war.

#WarIsTheft
Democrats, Republicans and nearly all elected officials of every party are puppets of the military industrial complex. There are jobs in every congressional district that depend on the war machine.
As a result there is basically nothing we can do to change that until we decrease military spending that will cost jobs in every congressional district- which is why it’s practically impossible to cut spending.

Our Republic is on the brink of war with itself. We have more guns than people and only so much hate until it turns into actual armed conflict. We need leaders who unite us. Not politicians who divide us.
We have to deescalate.
It’s easy to make our enemies people and not systems. Our real enemy is the system that brought us here, it’s money in politics, corruption, racism, poverty, militarism and climate change.

All of which pose a greater threat to people than any single country.

There is no reason we need to spend as much as we do on the military industrial complex.
If you want a job making machine gear it to fight our climate emergency not inventing new ways to turn kids into skeletons.
It’s possible and necessary to defend ourselves from our adversaries intentionally and environmentally. But we can’t just keep acting like the only threat we face is in the form of other countries or groups.

Our climate emergency represents just as big a threat as a superpower

If you don’t deliver for the young people that elected you - don’t expect young people to deliver for you again.
Cutting a lot of climate spending and community college from the spending bill was a huge mistake that Dems are going to pay for in midterms.

I want young people to keep voting but it’s pretty hard to convince my friends when the people we elected fail to deliver.
We need to educate young people a LOT more on primaries.
