Here's a great post from @NATS on the technical side of how this synchronized departure worked since it isn't something that's typically possible at Heathrow.
With that arrival, I honestly don't know when we'll ever see a real resumption of the Speedbird 1 flight number. What flight or aircraft will ever be special enough to use it again?

Tonight’s #AS1282 @NTSB press conference has started.
The cockpit door apparently is designed to open during rapid decompression, however NTSB says even the flight crew didn’t know this. NTSB says Boeing will make changes to its manual to reflect this.
Tonight’s @NTSB press conference on #AS1282 beginning now, with @JenniferHomendy.
NTSB confirms three prior pressurization issues with the aircraft where pilots had to take action. Correlation unknown now. Alaska in response restricted the airframe from ETOPS.
NTSB reports that there is NO structural damage to the aircraft. The interior damage is all cosmetic. The door plug broke away remarkably cleanly, apparently.
The cockpit door “flew open” during the decompression event and hit the lavatory door, which got stuck. A flight attendant was able to get it closed again.
Stunned to see the news of #JAL516 #JL516 this morning. Amazed and relieved to see all passengers survived, but saddened by the fate of the coast guard Dash-8 it collided with at HND.
Investigators will have their work cut out for them, this is the first composite aircraft loss.
This is very preliminary and I can't verify the accuracy since it's in Japanese, but this would indicate that the Japan Coast Guard Dash-8 was instructed to hold short of the active runway after #JAL516 #JL516 was cleared to land, but instead entered the runway.
#JAL516 #JL516 was a *textbook* evacuation. No passenger appears to have brought luggage and it was orderly and fast.
But wow, look at the angle of the left rear evacuation slide! If there are any passenger injuries, my bet is a result of hitting the ground off this slide.
The @SpiritAirlines board is so skeptical that the much higher value buyout offer from @JetBlue would fail regulatory hurdles that it has said no, and instead it will move forward with @FlyFrontier’s earlier bid.
But JetBlue has come back with an offer to divest assets to make it work. Specifically, giving up All Spirit assets in NYC and Boston, and gates at FLL to alleviate Northeast Alliance with AA regulatory concerns.
Also a $200 million break-up fee if the deal fails.
"We struggle to understand how JetBlue can believe DOJ, or a court, will be persuaded that JetBlue should be allowed to form an anticompetitive alliance that aligns its interests with a legacy carrier and then undertake an acquisition that will eliminate the largest ULCC carrier"
.@AmericanAir will discontinue its Shuttle branded northeast product as a part of the Northeast Alliance with @JetBlue.
If passengers want flexibility and shuttle-like perks, there's a new fare brand called Main Select that includes some priority and Main Cabin Extra. #PaxEx
Here's me in 2019: "These two Shuttle flights felt like any other. The Shuttle term has become so watered down that I’m not sure if it even means anything anymore."
Happy 2021 and good morning from New York's Penn Station! I've spent countless hours of my life waiting for trains in this underground dump.
That ends today. Sort of. Let's go take a look at the new Moynahan Train Hall, officially opened as of today 🎉
First off is the new @LIRR concourse entrance on 7th Ave. It's a grand entrance with a great piece of artwork - a map!
Moynihan Train Hall has several new entrances along 8th Avenue. These entrances opened a little while ago for access to @LIRR's West End Cooridor but now allow full access to the train hall.
