No, I am not comparing us with Microsoft, Apple or Google... I am merely pointing to a vital truth...
People, in the beginning, had to believe strongly and work tirelessly building specs, processes and procedures to get the company off the ground.
You didn't just walk in and damn its voila! A global juggernaut...
No... people... real people... had to volunteer their long hours based in a hope that someday this "investment" would pay off.
What they did for a buck, we are hoping to do simply to change the world.
Is that too much to ask?
When a volunteer comes to Real Progressives, it can feel daunting & unstructured... because it can be & it is. But the blue prints are there... we just need the people who believe... who share our passion... to help us build it.
It truly takes a village. But it's not amorphous!!
We have a very clear picture of how this looks. Now we need you to put your name, face, blood, sweat & tears into it so we all can change the world together. It takes 💵 to do the things we want to do. It takes leaders who understand media, policy & public relations.
Who understand the 7 knowledge areas of Real Progressives
• Economic Justice
• Environmental and Ecological Justice
• Peace with Justice
• Equality with Justice
• Democracy
• Health and Wellbeing
• Technology and Innovation
Who can edit, produce, write and film...
Who want to build chapters. Who want to teach. Who want to organize. Who want to see much better than a New Deal 2.0. Who want to he part of something bigger than themselves.
Is that you? Let me know. Because I want you! #EachOneTeachOne
The private university system is like a continuation of country clubs & good Ole boys network. It's existence requires exclusivity & stealing public resources. It then pushes benefits, not related to education, as a means of luring the money while alienating the community.
We carry the student debt. They get the land tax free. They leverage eminent dormant to take lands and claim blight on communities to steal homes as well. Then gate it off and hire police to keep locals out
Consider your history of Columbia, Trinity and Yale.
I suggest some prileved individuals that have benefited from this arrangement lead the fight against student debt and reclaim those lands and tax the lands immediately.
When people are desperate & suicidal most people wish they would just shut up & suffer quietly. Then, post mortem, they will wax poetic about how important you were to them, post on social media, maybe even share the suicide hotline to take the moral veneer of a caring person.
...when in reality the time for all of that was when the person desperately needed to talk or just get a hug. Depression and desperation tell them to hide away and die. Reactions reinforce that... then the shame... then the dying.
The disease of self reliance and capitalism (in the current form of neoliberalism) makes so many feel like irresponsible failures and the debt trap locks them down and in and there is absolutely no escape save for the grave.
I remember when I first started working at C&P Telephone Company, many of the old timers told me "it's all a dead end. There is no opportunity..." they were wrong, but they were right to doubt that management had their best interests.

Management was paid to do a job as well. Management was "at will" & had to dance as well. This is a story of infighting in the 99%. Management is labor too. They come in, wage slave, insecurity, the whole enchilada. We have been conditioned to fight each other. Crabs in a barrel.
Rather than allow folks to succeed we attempt to tear people down and it keeps us all stuck because even the best ideas cannot save us if we live as crabs in a barrel.
People will not fight for what they do not believe is possible.
People self select themselves out of the picture and create self fulfilling prophecies and allow defeat to overwhelm them to the point of inertia.

The Green New Deal requires people to understand we can not only afford BUT DO great things and that requires the answer to the "how will you pay for this" part.
Because any thinking human being can see taxes never pay for bombs, nuclear weapons, tanks and F35 planes, why in the world would we place such a burden on spending on the people of this nation?
Those who fan the flames of fear over the National Debt and the Defiict are using coded and deeply bigoted strategies to keep the poor, poor and to keep racial justice on the back burner under the auspices of affordability.
