O’Toole is on CBC campaigning to be PM. Right now.

Has anyone bothered to tell him the election is over and he lost?

Has anyone thought to inform him that this is a democracy and if NDP and LPC come to some agreement to ward off an election for a number of years, that’s ok.
Coalition governments (or parties that cooperate to avoid an election) are common when there is a minority government in a democracy.

O’Toole is acting like this is an illegitimate option.

He may prefer the precariousness of a minority govt, but stability has its benefits.
Stability, brought on by cooperation and compromise.

Which is the foundation of democracy. Peace, stability and prosperity through compromise, cooperation and unity.

Kill two birds with one stone.
A coalition would simultaneously remove the threat of a non confidence vote from the far right and remove the radical demagoguery on the far left and from it’s ideological MPs.

A brilliant alternative to the insecurity of a minority govt.
Unity in purpose means the stability and strength of a majority government is achieved. The actual majority of citizenry is reflected and committees can hopefully function as they’re meant to operate. Not as show trial venues to tear down institutions & reputations.
However, Angus has been especially disgusting. He needs a muzzle to control his biting false criticism and sharp discipline when he fails to remember what is truth and what’s a lie in order to be considered for committee membership.
Singh needs to dial back the toxic rhetoric and provide criticism constructively. Instead of using the tragedy of others to wield as a cudgel, he needs to point out better alternatives and policies instead of digging in his heels and demanding NDP policy be adopted.
Singh also needs to re-educate his support base. So many believe they and they alone know what’s best for the nation. Without a concern for those human lives impacted, they would destroy and lay waste to industries and support services of Fossil Fuel industry with nary a thought.
Just transition doesn’t mean what the masses believes it means. It’s a means of absolving yourself from guilt when thousands lose everything to reduce what make up minuscule contributions to global warming, but would completely devastate western Canada.
To gain the cooperation of those most impacted by the sunsetting of fossil fuel industry, there must be viable alternatives to preserve accumulated personal resources. Asking people to choose poverty to save the earth is noble, extremely short sighted & stupid.
We need less rigid adherence to radical ideology and more cooperation, collaboration and a unified approach to governance.

Our future depends on it. Not on ideological purity, socialist utopian fantasies, or dystopian libertarian freedom.
Civilizations don’t survive by constant warring over ideological beliefs.

Obviously CPC hasn’t accepted the fact the party lost the election.

They speak of an effective opposition, but act like an effective obstruction to achieving what the majority of Canadians elected.
It should be more obvious now to Canadians that democracy is NOT what CPC is offering. It’s authoritarianism.

O’Toole continues his and his party’s quest to remove liberalism and progressive values as an option.

And journalists are stuck on vaccine disinformation.
Disinformation is a concern. But the delegitimization of the choice of the electorate and disrespect for how democracy functions is a much bigger problem.
Continuing to platform O’Toole’s nonsense without serious questions about CPC’s intent and commitment to democracy is a serious oversight that journalists continue to make.

#CanadianMediaFailsAgain

Not a surprise, but damning evidence of complicity or incompetence.

While people have sugar plum dreams of CPC imploding, O’Toole just appointed radical right evangelicals to his shadow cabinet. Rempel and Poilievre are Dominionists.

There is no irreparable rift in O’Toole’s party.
What we are witnessing is the frustration and determination to remove LPC from power.

What you’re witnessing is extremists discounting the vote of the majority of Canadians. Arrogantly proclaiming the majority of people’s votes don’t count. Only their CPC votes are legitimate.
Those who are most extreme are anxious to impose their ideology. That angst is being fomented by the American propaganda network and other foreign adversaries. Fox News, Sinclair, numerous SM platforms, Trump and his cabal.

This isn’t hard.

The coordinated disinformation currently being used on the far right includes the claim that 99.9% of people, never mind children, will recover.

Journalists who continue to provide tacit legitimization of these false narratives (aka lies) are the problem.
Gladu is referring to the nonsensical “medical” advice promoted as Great Barrington legitimate information.

There are no medical professionals at PHAC stating masks and vaccines are unnecessary. The Canadian Institution responsible for public health is the authority & standard.
Solomon is providing some validity to Gladu’s “alternate facts” by not challenging her assertion adequately. Polio was not just a childhood disease. It was more prevalent in children.

It resulted in death or long term effects if the patient recovered.

@Garossino They aren’t voting against their own interests. They believe they are voting in their interests. It’s not economic stability that’s the issue, it’s maintaining a strongman white supremacy based hierarchy.
@Garossino Many people don’t understand (nor have the base knowledge to understand) cause and effect. The factors contributing to stagnant wages, recessions and climate change are complex and difficult for anyone to understand.
@Garossino People who vote for UCP and CPC aren’t looking to improve their position in life. They’re looking for a clear target to blame and a govt that will punish those who are blamed. There doesn’t ever need to be resolution. They just need a scapegoat & to feel superior.

What I find interesting and suspect is the fact that the total number of unmarked graves is not being kept track of by media.

Why is that?

I took a quick peek and there are numbers ranging from 1700 to 5000+. But I’ve seen numbers over 7000 on indigenous Twitter.
Is the media complicit in white washing once again the genocide on indigenous people?

Did conservatives wait the required number of news cycles for this issue to fade from top of mind to them demand the flag be raised?
How long is an appropriate time frame for grieving genocide?

I imagine it is uncomfortable for some who venerate JAM and the founding of Canada to keep this truth at the forefront of people’s consciousness. So discomforting they want to move along.

We wouldn’t want to ruin his life like the person who was assaulted had his life shattered. Wealthy parents protect their investment when they should have been parenting and instilling ethics, values and the understanding that rape and assault are wrong and criminal.
Why bother to teach your children appropriate behaviour when you have the means to ensure infractions are a slap on the wrist and anonymity on the basis of confidentiality.

Remember, Harper loaded the judiciary when he was in power.
Harper’s appointment of up to 75% of lower court judges has consequences. Canada doesn’t have a Federalist Society training lawyers to interpret and promote far right ideology. At least not openly.

PART 3: LIBERTARIAN COMPLICITY

NDP aren’t the traditionally moderate socialists anymore. They’re left libertarian. Anarcho-syncalist.

What does that mean?

Glad you’re wondering. Their beliefs will be familiar and explain the similarities between NDP and CPC.
The first principle is anarchism. Removal of any central authority. Anarcho-syndicalists (AS) believe in power distributed among the people. Not in political representatives.

This belief includes a preference for direct democracy. Everyone’s voice is equally valid.
Equally valid includes issues which require knowledge, experience & expertise. For eg. covid measures; direct democracy advocates believe restrictions should be decided by everyone, not experts or govt. Because a physician’s opinion is no more valid than a mechanic or waiter.
