I started with “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)” and then looped around to the start.
Stuck on “Treacherous.” How perfect is she on this?
“Tonight’s the night we forget about the deadlines!”
I came to Taylor late, starting with Lover but really with folklore & evermore during the pandemic, so, much of Red is new to me. I’m going back at points and listening to clips of the original recordings. This is more than a re-recording. She is different now; so are the songs.
That Ed Sheeran guy has a future.
So “Begin Again (Taylor’s Version).”

Whewwwwwwwwww.
Seriously, I went back to the original version of “Begin Again.” This is a different song. “I do” are the same words, but it’s a totally different phrase in “Begin Again (Taylor’s Version).”
Was not ready for this. 😭 Image
Yeah, “Babe (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault),” gets it done.
Favorites after a first listen:
1. “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)”
2. “Begin Again (Taylor’s Version)”
3. “Treacherous (Taylor’s Version)”
4. “Everything Has Changed (feat. Ed Sheeran) (Taylor’s Version)”
5. [The rest of them.]
Update: Adding “Babe (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault),” as No. 5.

So, my summer was great (until I got Covid), and I’ve really enjoyed doing project-based work, from columns to speaking to podcasts and beyond. Now that I’m recovered from Covid and back from my (wonderful!) Paris trip, I’m trying to get things a bit more organized going forward.
I am a legal expert, having written about the Supreme Court for 20+ years. I have deep knowledge of LGBTQ and criminal justice issues, government and politics, and media and journalism. My expertise ranges from in-depth process issues to real-world effects on people everywhere.
In short: If you are looking for an expert in any of these ares, I’m your person! I love creative work, too, so do think creatively about how I could be used — writing, editing, speaking, analysis, strategy, teaching, etc.

BTW: I’ll be listening to these #SCOTUS arguments, starting at 10a, and tweeting anything notable I catch.
First up is the Puerto Rico SSI case, which I wrote about for @MSNBC here: msnbc.com/opinion/puerto…
An amici brief from DC and other territories and states questions the federal government's position that you can discriminate against states so long as you meet rational basis:

I'm awake, everyone! (Why do they have this time?)
I'm recording for @NPR’s @UpFirst shortly about today's two #SCOTUS cases, so check it out!
OK, back to bed. See y’all in a few hours. 🤣

There are others who know even more directly how offensively ahistorical this is, but, suffice it to say, this is complete bullshit: There was an entire infrastructure of laws passed and policies implemented stigmatizing people with AIDS — some of which still exist!

I’d like an episode that’s just Gerri and Roman. T. B. H.
I get that we can’t. I’m just saying.

My latest for @MSNBC looks at the Pentagon’s investigation into the August drone strike that killed 10 Afghan civilians, including 7 children, and what their conclusions say about how our military thinks about drone warfare: msnbc.com/opinion/americ…
“It is a horrifying wake-up call that comes as no surprise to those who have followed the advent and expansion of drone warfare. But, as with all recurring horrors, there are moments that prompt more attention than others — and sometimes even change.” msnbc.com/opinion/americ…
In the column, I discuss problems with the investigation, with the initial review of the strike (and the review of that review), and — ultimately — with the attack itself. msnbc.com/opinion/americ…
