Reddit has 430 Million monthly users.

It's the 7th most visited site in the US & 19th in the world.

It'd be nice if you knew how to use it.

Here's Reddit 101: 🧵
First: What is Reddit?

Billed as "the front page of the internet" – Reddit is a melting pot of many things...

•Forum
•Social network
•News aggregator & more

Even for experienced users, It's tough to know where to begin.

Read on...
Do you need an account?

That depends.

If you're window-shopping and not quite ready to dive into the comments or post your own content, the answer is no.

On the other hand, if you're ready to up the ante & get involved, you'll need an account for that.

Super Simple:
OK, you've decided to take the plunge and set up an account.

Congratulations, you're a "Redditor"

Now what?

It's time to find your favorite topics:

With over 130K communities known as "subreddits," there's something for everyone.

Find yours:

Home->Top Communities->Click
Posts:

Alright, you're getting the hang of this!

Let's join the discussion.

We'll cover posting your own content first.

You can share text, images, video, web links & more.

•Note: Some subreddits only allow certain types of content.

Watch & learn: 👇🏻
Comments:

Get your popcorn ready 🍿

We're just "here for the comments"

I love reading them too.

But what if you want to throw in your own 2 cents?

It couldn't be easier to add to the conversation.

Check it out:
Upvotes / Downvotes:

These serve a few different purposes.

The basic premise? The best rise to the top.

Think of it like scoring:

Upvotes add while downvotes deduct from an individual post's "score."

The more points, the higher the post ranks.

Find them here:
Sorting:

In a sea of content, it's nice to be able to sort by the things you actually want to see.

Reddit allows sorting via the following options:

•Hot
•New
•Top - (My favorite) 👇🏻

You can specify a specific time frame for the popularity of posts within a given subreddit.
Reddit Karma:

Accounts on Reddit are anonymous.

With this in mind, Reddit uses what is known as "Reddit Karma"

A system for establishing the credibility of users.

2 kinds:

Post Karma - Earned from upvotes on your posts.

Comment Karma - Earned from upvotes on your comments.

7 principles that will make you appear (and become) more intelligent today: 🧵
7/11 Rule:

Studies have shown that people make 11 assumptions about you within the first 7 seconds of interaction.

Things like:

•Economic status
•Percieved intelligence
•Trustworthiness & more.

The point is – first impressions matter.

Be confident, authentic, & honest.
Speak with authority & emotion:

Ever been in a room where two people say the same thing, yet one gets all the credit?

Here's why.

People who speak with authority & emotion are judged as being more intelligent.

Our brain says, "this person knows what they're talking about!"

11 life-changing questions to ask yourself today: 🧵
What’s 1 thing you can get done now?

I know, I know, you've heard it 1,000 times before.

The key is taking action.

The funny thing about advice? The good stuff gets repeated.

Start by identifying the single most important thing you can do today.

Now go do it.
What do you need to make it happen?

Quit overcomplicating things.

You've decided what to do, the next step is simple.

Ask, what do I need?

More knowledge, a better network?

If you know where to look, you can learn anything & connect with anyone.

Financial education is severely lacking in this world.

@10kdiver is working to change that.

I enjoyed this piece on Markov Chains & the role luck plays in our lives.

Teaser: It includes a poll question that 87% of respondents got wrong!
Earlier this week, @ShaanVP dropped a hot take on his view of what the Metaverse is and what it's not.

The validity of his opinions will surely be debated, but he makes us think, and IMO that's what matters.

Google Sheets isn't Excel...

But it's more powerful than you think.

8 things Google Sheets can do, you'll wish you knew yesterday. 📊
Translate Text:

Need to convert data from one language to another?

Enter:
=GOOGLETRANSLATE("A2","en","es")

This will translate the words in cell "A2" from English to Spanish.

Replace "en" with "auto" and Sheets will identify the source language automatically.
Timesavers:

Assuming you're signed in to your Google account, head on up to your browser's address bar:

From there type: "sheet.new"

Boom! A new Google sheet is created for you on the fly from anywhere on the web.

(Works for docs too)

Pretty cool!
