overwhelming force claiming Arunachal to be part of their land. The brave KUMAONI bullas led by their gallant young officers like Colonel Madiah and Major Prem Nath Bhatia, remained struck to their ground till 'the last man, last round'.

The Kumaonis had about 125 men

without any tangible artillery or air fire support. Chinese had more than 2000 men attacking in waves, with mortars and artillery ready to fire. What the Chinese had not counted on was the indomitable #josh of our soldiers. Kumaonis launched a counter attack on the Chinese

defences with limited resources but unlimited ferocity & aggression. They kept fighting and fighting long and hard, resisting multiple showers of bullets and artillery attacks. The Chinese army reinforced twice, but India had no reinforcement.

Officer knew that that troops were surrounded by the Chinese and they were running out of ammunition. Then came AN ACT OF INCREDIBLE VALOR... Colonel Madiah ordered his brave men to charge and go for the kill.

Without hesitation, roughly a 100 men, with khukris and bayonets,

leapt out of trenches shouting their war cry 'Kalika Mata ki jai!' and charging at the heavily equipped Chinese. COURAGE KNEW NO BOUNDS THAT DAY. Facing a rain of bullets, the bhullas reached enemy position and engaged them in hand to hand combat. The Chinese were shocked at

this insane attack- men having no fear, men loving their land, their people and sacrificing their lives for the same.

The enemy suffered very heavy losses at the hands of gritty KUMAONIS but eventually the enemy succeeded as there were no able bodied men left

to defend. Whether it was Major Prem Bhatia, the Adjutant, firing Light machine Gun or Capt Mathur, 2 Lt AS Khatri, late Lt Bikram Singh killed in the action, Capt BC Chopra, the RMO, late Naik Bahadur Singh & score of unsung heroes of 6 KUMAON who fought like 'Man Eaters'

This indescribable act of valor dented the Chinese morale extensively. They halted their march stayed at Walong fearing another attack like this. Gratitude for these brave men who fought against all odds. 🇮🇳
