Something I've thought about a lot over the last 15 years is the concept of 'complicity with evil'.

What are your values, principles, and lines you won't cross?

What level of complicity is unavoidable?

What hills are you willing to die on?

I think about this every day...

Given human psychology and historic events, I believe it is extremely important for every man and woman to think about this deeply.

All of the catastrophes in human history were committed by people who biologically the same as us.

Humans have not 'evolved' over the centuries.

That means each and every one of us is capable of great evil.

If not perpetrating it directly, at least enabling it, or being knowingly complicit with it.

Cowardice is more common than courage and fear shuts down reason.

When people are fearful or angry (and it's easy to scare and anger people), then they are capable of unfathomable cruelty. Especially in groups.

By being aware of this phenomenon, and hyper conscious of your own principles, you can avoid being swept into the madness of crowds.

Without self awareness and great reflection, most people will be complicit with the greatest evils possible.

You have to know where to draw your line, and when.

It's not an overnight thing. It's a lifetime effort. But it creates high consciousness individuals and stability.

Unfortunately, it is virtually impossible to eliminate all complicity with evil, without refusing to engage in society and the system at all.

But you can certainly reduce your level, and it's a noble thing to strive for.
