Eskom and de Ruyter have dominated the media precisely because the impact of the Eskom failure to power the economy is pervasive. But the vitriol against Eskom ignores the destructive role of political interference in its operations and strategic choices.
Former President Mbeki did accept, and apologise, that govmnt ignored professional advise to invest in more power generation. The operational difficulties to keep old power units running have their genesis in the Mbeki administration.
Failure to adopt a turnkey approach to Kusile and Medupi was a profound technical blunder. They are still not ready to deliver as expected!!!
Political interferences in operational and commercial decisions have derailed our SOEs. (SAA; PRASA; DENEL etc
WRT SAA, it's difficult not to conclude that Jarana was deliberately pushed and frustrated to resign because of a hidden strategy by DPE to push SAA into constructive destruction so that a new SAA, with preferred BEE partners, can emerge from the ashes.
Jarana, in his letter of resignation, publicly spelt out the consistent obstacles and barriers he encountered from DPE and Treasury.
Until and unless the President implements the oversight framework proposed in the book below, more SOEs shall collapse.
Eskom on the other hand is too big to be allowed to fail. And yet, the state is not commiting the level of resources required to support the mandated maintenance and overhaul.

Some prominent ANC leaders like @zsaul1 support @CyrilRamaphosa that the ANC can be rehabilitated and abandon its embedded culture of patronage that has now morphed into prebendalism.
Change in such a substantial scale is historically unprecedented.
ANC is not a manufacturing entity whose business model is driven by tech driven processes. As a party it relies on alignment of purpose and culture to achieve its political objectives. Organisational dynamics demonstrate that the challenge these leaders face
requires leadership overhaul that is impossible especially given the economic condition of the country. ANC is seen as a provider of employment. Period. KZN attests to this view. Replacing council members is a life threatening action. People have been killed

Organisations do not self-propel themselves to sustainable success and glory. They do so because they are purpose driven and their vision aligned strategies are developed and executed by a highly skilled and competent team. thabangjmotsohi.com
Municipalities are vital organisations that are mandated to deliver social services to communities within their boundaries. They can only do so provided they are managed effectively by highly qualified functionaries. Incredibly the ANC believed
that unqualified cadres can do the job effectively!!! In almost all cases municipalities have to deal with the indigent and poor. What does this say about the attitude of the ANC-Led government about the poor?
Their local elections campaigns have always

The enthusiasm that drives @CyrilRamaphosa to stick to his irrational commitment to reform or renew the ANC is frankly astounding. The ANC is broken. Thoroughly broken by greed and corruption that have now become embedded culture. He knows this. 🙇‍♂️🙇‍♂️
Amazingly he thinks the nation also needs some revitalization! Good gracious! Where does he get this from? This diverse nation has never been so vibrant and vigilant. That's good for democracy. It's so cool to see ANC politicians chased away by old ladies.
That proves the nation is not asleep. People know exactly what they want. The ANC has never listened. Too arrogant and driven by impunity to pay attention to poor people. I warned you in 2016 here. I'm a strange voice so you ignored me

Pretorius to the President; How do you explain the appointment of Mahlobo as Dep Minister despite the serious allegations in respect of SSA?
"I will await the outcome of the report of this commission to assist in what next"
Here lies a distinguishing feature between a bold and visionary leader and a seriously tentative one. In the aftermath of the insurrection, the sacking of Dlodlo, Mahlobo and others would have attracted massive popular support and lifted his image.
He is now comforted by the logical incrementalism advocated by J P Landman. A treasonous act was committed. Credible evidence pointed to lapses or connivance of leadership of SSA and others. Anywhere else they would have been sacked or worse.🙆‍♂️🙆‍♂️

Depression, anger at poor services, and frustration are common emotions in almost all municipalities under the control of the ANC.
Public services are crippled. Raw sewage flows in the gravel streets of poor black areas. Uncollected garbage everywhere.

Political parties are formed on the pursuit of a vision and some shared policy positions by members. That was the case for the ANC-Led Tripartite Alliance until 1994 when their vision of winning state power was achieved. Since then the alliance has been
defined by internal battles over policy choices to meet the needs of the growing poor that have been neglected and exploited through the apartheid era.Even the NDP has been contested with no agreement in sight. They have no agreement on vision a for SA.
They can therefore have no alignment on policy choices for social upliftment and growth. They are reactive to demanding situations in a dynamic context. When the pandemic struck, the economy was already in ICU because of policy incoherence and incompetence.
