OWNERSHIP IS EVERYTHING - Dele Olawanle

As a young man aged 17, someone took a bag I thought had become mine from me. I got very angry and was so sad. My late mother looked at me and said “Why are you angry? It does not belong to you.
Pray that God should give you something you can call your own”. Even my illiterate mother knew something about the power of ownership.

From that point, my life changed. I started working to get what I can call my own: My own money, my own car,
my own business, my own investment, my own family house and something for my family.That was why I went for a degree after having two young children. Even when I started the ministry, I made sure the church gets a building of its own that we can call our place of worship,
a permanent location in the community. I was deliberate about it. If you become deliberate, you will conquer your world. You travel to your home country and you are always staying with people. Get your own place no matter how small.
Poverty starts and ends with not having what you can call your own. That rented house is not yours. That rented council flat is not yours. That borrowed money is not yours. That rented car is not yours. The benefits you are getting from the government cannot make you rich.
People in the UK don’t like to hear this and I cannot put it any other way.

Friends, ownership is everything. God understands that and so he put his Holy Spirit in us to track us. You cannot escape from God as you are his own. Psalm 139. What do you own?
What do you have? The way you are going, what would you leave as an inheritance for your children and grandchildren? Think generationally, Proverb 13:22. Stop being a beggar. Stop being a parasite. Work to have what you can call your own and believe me you can do it.
God will help you but you have a lot to do.

Even my late illiterate mother understood something about the power of ownership. Go and get yours now! I hope I have inspired you.

WHO ARE YOUR CHILDREN’S FRIENDS?

It is very important as a parent to be interested in your children’s welfare, education and friends. I will write on the latter now.

Apart from the grace of God, one of the things that helped me in life is my choice of friends.
I came from a poor family and helpers were very few. I was raised by a single mother and so she was very particular on my choice of friends. She was very forceful at separating me from those she thought were going nowhere. Believe me, she got it right 💯.
One day she visited me at my primary school and saw me playing with some school mates. I was 10 years old. She knew their parents. On getting home, she sat me down and said “Do you not have children of rich people to move with? The friend of the poor will be poor.

SHOW SOME LOYALTY

Understand that loyalty is part of the tools for greatness especially when using people for professional services. People like lawyers, doctors, accountants, IT Specialists or regular customers. I have seen that if you are a good and loyal client,
that professional person can help you in several ways beyond your imagination.

Over the years as a lawyer, I have helped several people to fulfill destiny: maritally, career wise, business wise and in the area of investments.
I have also benefitted immensely from my relationship with some clients.

Stop jumping from one person to the other. I have published seven books. I used the same man to help me. I will not move to another person just because I will save £500.00.

THAT WISE MAN WAS ONCE A FOOLISH MAN

There is nothing wrong with being foolish but it is wrong to die a fool. When you hear some men talk or read something they wrote, you will marvel at their depth of wisdom but they were once foolish men. They were once demonstrably foolish.
But as time went on, they learnt from their mistakes and decided to make amends. They were men who learnt from their experience. That is why I love Paul the Apostle’s writings.

I show you a mystery, there is no wise man or wise woman anywhere.
We all have an element of foolishness in us. What you have are men and women who learnt from their negative experience but many of them will not share their experience with you. Many African leaders are like that. They will talk and behave as if they have always been wise.

GO BACK TO CHURCH

Covid-19 came and did a lot of damage to health, families, ministries, businesses, economy and the church. I do not believe the church around the world have been through so much chaos like the last two years in my lifetime.
Many have lost their faith and have become lukewarm. Many have become rebellious.

We were doing church online and via ZOOM but now that the pandemic is ending, many have failed to return to their respective churches.
They are doing church at home and some have declared church independence. That is where the danger lies.

Church as I know it is a place of refuge. It is a place of building relationships. It is a place where many meet the men or women of their dream.

A BETTER WAY FOR WINNING SOULS.

As a preacher, I started out and I was always condemning and criticizing church members and prospective Christians. It was a great weakness and I wish I knew what I know now.
Just as you don’t get the best out of your children by criticizing them, I have realized that our church members are our spiritual children. You don’t get the best out of them by condemning or criticizing them. Prospective Christians are the same.
I want to ask you, this hellfire loaded and condemnatory messages you are always posting, would you do that to your biological children? Obviously you will not do that. You need to take a leaf from me.

DO NOT BE IGNORANT OF SATAN’S HOLDING STRATEGIES

In this article, I want to highlight that the devil ties destiny down. I have seen it all my life. You have only one life. You don’t have all the time. You age daily. Strength wanes, beauty fades and daily you get
closer to your maker. One fact of life is: WE ALL HAVE PROBLEMS.

Satan comes to steal, to kill and to destroy. One of his strategies is using what I call holding strategies. He puts a problem in someone’s life and that occupies their time and life for a lifetime: bareness,
sickness, disease, health condition, lack of husband or wife, lack of education or immigration problems. For example, many people wasted at least 10 to 20 years of their lives waiting for their immigration problem to be solved. During that time, they achieved nothing.
