And never forget that the Communists were military allies of Nazi Germany.

Stalin signed alliance with Hitler that gave the Communists eastern Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia & Finland.

He then signed an alliance with Japan allowing Japan to invade the US.
When France & Britain declared war on Nazi Germany, Communist parties in both countries worked to help Hitler on orders from Stalin

French & British Communists organized strikes and sabotages in weapons factories to help the Nazis.
When Nazis occupied France in 1940, the Communists welcomed them.

The Communists even petitioned Nazis to allow publication of the Communist mouthpiece L'Humanite, which would tell French people not to resist Nazi occupation.
In April 1941, Stalin signed alliance with Japan for 4 years.

With the pact with Communists sealed, the Japanese attacked America at Pearl Harbor.

Stalin honored this alliance fully, until pact expired in 1945

Stalin even arrested American airmen who were bombing Japan

Comments on BJP's performance in bypolls today.

1) BJP maintains strong grip on Madhya Pradesh & Assam

2) BJP in very bad shape in Bengal

3) In Haryana, INLD retains seat in close fight but BJP does better than 2019. Shows ZERO impact of "farmer protest" outside Punjab

1/n
4) BJP loses bypoll in Maharashtra. Bear in mind BJP is very weak in this seat. It came 3rd in 2014 at peak of Modi wave

5) BJP wins Huzurabad bypoll in Telangana but TRS gives tough fight. BJP now clearly main opp but KCR is very strong too

2/n
6) In Himachal, BJP lost. But the cards they had been dealt were very tough.

Given stature of late Virbhadra Singh, not surprising his wife won Mandi.

In Jubbal, independent who won is son of deceased BJP MLA. If BJP had given him ticket, they would have won easily

One conclusion is clear, when you compare two Republican Presidents:

Nixon vs Reagan

Intellectuals are good for nothing.

Nixon was much more intellectual than Reagan. Nixon believed the Cold War was unwinnable.

Reagan believed Communism was evil. He won the Cold War.
Nixon and of course Kissinger, were brilliant.

Their policy was "detente": a way for US to just get along with USSR somehow.

For this, Kissinger & Ford signed away entire Eastern Europe to USSR at Helsinki.
For this, Kissinger & Nixon turned blind eye to genocide of Hindus in Pakistan

And of course Nixon & Kissinger brought Mao's China into international system in hope of counterbalancing USSR

Imagine the disaster that was.

How Ravish Kumar does not understand difference between GDP and govt budget (thread)

1. Ravish quotes Piyush Goyal's statement that 1 lakh crore economic output will be generated in 4-5 years in area around Statue of Unity

2. Then he says Gujarat budget is Rs 2.25 lakh crore
Does Ravish not understand difference between GDP and govt budget?

Gujarat GDP is $230 billion

Amdavad alone has GDP of $80 billion

Piyush Goyal said they would aim for economic activity of $15 billion around Statue of Unity after 4-5 years.

This is hardly unachievable.
Then Ravish quotes union tourism minister saying in 2019 that just Rs 19.47 crore revenue was earned from the statue between Nov2018 and Jan 2019!

So Ravish is comparing:

GDP : 1 year state budget : 3 months ticket sales!

This is the Ravish Kumar that liberals worship

There is a particular kind of cruelty and insensitivity that Western media shows when reporting on anything with Indian roots.

Wall St Journal tries to introduce Americans to ghee -- and starts by saying ghee will go great with steak!
You might think WSJ is talking to Americans.

But no - there are lots of conventions that modern US media uses when reporting on food from other cultures.

See how US media is careful to respect culture for instance when reporting on Asian food.

Insensitivity shown to India only
See this NPR article.

Some food blogger dared to call Vietnamese pho as "new ramen"

Caused a storm!

Yogi Adityanath said that there has been no "danga" in UP since he took over.

Here is how @newslaundry used a nonsensical interpretation by a "fact checker" to say that Yogi is wrong and there were thousands of riots in UP.

1/n
Issue is what we mean by "riot"

Under IPC, any kind of violence in any andolan or morcha etc is called "rioting"

In fact, ~75% of all crimes against public order in India are classified as "rioting"

But common people understand "danga" to mean communal riots

2/n
Now see this screenshot from Newslaundry that shows 5714 "riots" in UP in 2017.

They say it comes from NCRB.

But that's the total number of cases of "rioting"

How many of these were communal/sectarian riots?

This is what common folks understand by "danga"

Central banks pumping up the money supply to make up for loss of output due to the pandemic.

Real cost of the pandemic could become visible in a 1930s style Great Depression that starts about 5-6 years from now.
The story begins with the 1907 panic in US stock markets.

By this time, the US had gotten sick of recessions and panic every few years.

So the US in 1913 creates the Federal Reserve Bank, the lender of last resort.
Soon after, WW1 begins in 1914.

The British and the French borrow heavily from the US for the war.

This is the beginning of the military industrial complex, with the US lending money to countries who would use it to buy weapons from the US.
