Coronavirus: how to stay safe and help prevent the spread - GOV.UK

This guidance needs to be reported for misinformation.

As ever during this pandemic, the 🇬🇧 medico-political complex display an aversion to reporting empirical truths. gov.uk/guidance/covid…
THE GOOD

✅ ‘Airborne transmission is a very significant way that the virus circulates.’

Correct: aerosols are formed & exhaled during breathing, speech, singing, coughing & sneezing.

Can you live without breathing? Image
THE BAD

☣️ Symptoms requiring PCR testing STILL reflect the BS affirmed by @CMO_England in May 2020 based on data marred by selection bias: ISARICA4.

These data should NEVER have been used to prop up erroneously narrow test criteria.
@ProfCalumSemple now agrees: BMJ, July 2021! Image
Go on, you try getting this PIG HEADED BUNCH OF IDIOTS TO ACCEPT THEIR MISTAKES & CHANGE FLAWED POLICY.

I AM SHOUTING BECAUSE ‘EXPERTS’ HAVE SUPPRESSED THE TRUTH & IN SO DOING HAVE ALLOWED PEOPLE TO DIE.

I hope you’ll forgive me shouting about that? 🙏🏻
THE UGLY

☣️ ‘The particles can come into contact with the eyes, nose or mouth or can be breathed in by another person. The particles can also land on surfaces & be passed from person to person via touch.’

Surfaces? Eyes?

WTF (shouting again)

Why persist with misinformation?
👆 I copied this letter because perpetuation of surface transmission fairy tales leads to huge efforts in healthcare settings - what I see every day - which are wasteful distract from mitigations against the DOMINANT [100%*] route - INHALATION.

Surfaces? Unproven & you know it.
And lastly, if SARS2 is airborne when will you compel @Lisaritchie111 & the IPC Cell gang to change IPC guidance for HCWs?

Right now, the vast majority of NHS Trusts are treating their covid-facing STAFF like cannon fodder, as sometimes, even visitors get better protection. 💙

@WHO director of communications suggests that we need 'a consensus on terminology'; i.e. meaning of the word 'airborne'.

Logical possibilities:

1. She's right: 'airborne' has so many meanings as to render its use invalid.

2. She's wrong: 'airborne' has a single, clear meaning.
🚨 Dictionary evidence

Does this indicate multiple, potentially conflicting meanings, or a single, clear meaning?
🚨 Evidence from WHO teams' use

2014: IPC of epidemic & pandemic-prone acute respiratory infections in health care

'The spread of an infectious agent caused by the dissemination of droplet nuclei that remain infectious when suspended in air over long distances and time. (9)'

If true, why would you allow the Chair of the @WHO IPC R&D Expert Group for COVID-19 to co-author & release a preprint which denies airborne transmission?

Version 2 was even released 24hrs BEFORE your front page changed: WHO's first overt acceptance of aerosol transmission! Image
@doctorsoumya were you aware that in this same airborne-denial preprint, Dr Conly [Chair of the @WHO IPC R&D Expert Group for COVID-19] et al attempt to re-write history?

🚨 They basically try to undermine the concept that SARS1 was airborne, contradicting the WHO stance on SARS ImageImageImage
@doctorsoumya were you aware that in this same airborne-denial preprint, Dr Conly et al attempt to re-write the scientific record on aerosol creation by humans?

They claim that aerosol creation [beyond AGPs] is as easy & likely as putting a human into orbit.

Is this acceptable? ImageImageImageImage

@mancunianmedic @bmj_latest I think with 1,500 HCWs dead, over 120,000 with long covid & NHS Trusts still anchored on droplet transmission beyond AGPs, you've got a right to be angry.

You mention the pandemic stockpile lacking necessary supplies. I agree.

I hope you don't mind my 2c...
@mancunianmedic @bmj_latest In advance of PPE re-procurement, Spring 2016, the NERVTAG ‘Sub-committee on the pandemic influenza Facemasks & Respirators stockpile’ recommended that ‘fluid repellent surgical masks (FRSM) could be used for the majority of clinical care on normal wards during a pandemic...
@mancunianmedic @bmj_latest ...escalating to respirators for AGPs.’

In contrast, for MERS Coronavirus, FFP3 respirators were required for all HCWs, but as MERS was not deemed to have pandemic potential, stockpiling for this purpose was not deemed necessary.

SARS was not considered.

WHO described SARS2 as a cough & sneeze droplet-transmitted virus

Prevention: 'wash your hands, don't touch your face'

At 12:37: #COVIDisAirborne!
'[emitted] small liquid particles...droplets to smaller aerosols'

Prevention: 'wear a mask'

WHO anti-airborne starting point:

'The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes' Image
WHO anti-airborne: prevention

🤦‍♂️Wash your hands regularly with soap & water, or clean them with alcohol-based hand rub.
🤔Maintain at least 1m distance between you & people coughing or sneezing [Ed: what about breath-exhaled aerosols; & why 1m?!].
🤦‍♂️Avoid touching your face. Image
