You remember what Daesh did to our library (photo 1).
See how the Mosulis restored it (photo 2).
Yes, Life Wins
Mosul Eye is proud to have been the first responder to recover the library.
I am also happy to announce that Marie Colvin’s family donated to us some of her books. We will place them in the library in a special section dedicated for her and Freedom.

I just spoke to the head of #COVID19 crisis cell in Mosul, he said the situation is out of control, suspecting more than 2000 cases in Mosul. No testing devices and the government has no control over the city’s boarders. No enough buildings to quarantine people. #Mosul2020
The already damaged hospitals are full of Corona cases, he also indicated that if they reveal the real numbers there will be chaos in the city. He said out of 200 suspected cases they found 20 case. They are all in the same place which will end up infected the rest of them.
The government is putting a huge pressure to take over the university housing (which is no way ready for such a situation). There are enough spaces around Mosul but they are under the control of PMU and they refuse to give it to the government.
A prison breakout attempt is happening at this moment in Faisaliyya detention camp. The prison is full of ISIS fighters.
Several were injured including the security guards.
The prison is located in eastern Mosul. It is also known as Anti terrorism prison. In June 2014 during ISIS attack on Mosul they freed more than 2000 prisoners who directly joined them.
ISIS is using the same pr-2014 style in Mosul: Threatening people to pay by sending a message by envelope: "Pay or Die". They have
threatened businessmen, doctors, etc.
Three ISIS members were arrested today in Mosul before collecting their extortion.
Same situation in Mosul since 2003 is happening after the "defeat of ISIS" : ISIS. some Security force members, some PMU members, etc are all forcing people to pay protection.
Same problem: People can't repot such incident to the security forces as they fear their names will be leaked to ISIS.
the Governor of Nineveh has issued an order to arrest anyone, citizens, journalists (Iraqi or international) who takes photos or films in Old Mosul.
The journalist Ziad al Sumaidaie was the first to be arrested after the order was issued.

Two Caliphates Fall: Mosul Survives...
“We are Ottomans.”
My grandmother said this in 1996. She came from an old Mosul family that lived in the Bab Lagash neighborhood.
I was 10 years old at the time—it was also the year that I got my first Christian calendar, from a very old bookshop on Al-Najafi Street.
She said this in answer to a question my uncle put to her during their discussion of the distribution of the estate that had been left to them by their ancestors in Mosul. My mother’s share was a part of a small house in the Bab al-Beid section in the old city.
