Fiasco around land acquisition bill of 2015 caused lot of heartburns then also just like today’s repeal of 3 farm laws by the Modi Govt.

Here it is pertinent to note that controversy on LAB then was similarly used by opposition to paint @narendramodi Govt as anti farmer!
However tactical retreat of 2015 land acquisition bill helped @narendramodi Govt tremendously as it helped it reorient its policies such that policies for the welfare of poor and aggressive Eco reform took the centre stage.
Almost all the superhit welfare schemes- barring JanDhan-of the @narendramodi Govt were launched after 2015 and paved the way for victory in 2019. Ofcourse Economic reforms also picked up speed and a landmark reforms like GST became a reality; demonetisation helped formal economy
Simultaneously, PM @narendramodi continued pursuing defence preparedness and an aggressive foreign policy. Both helped it manage the aftermath of Pulwama and helped chalk out the direction of country’s security policy vis-a-vis Pak and it delivered results
Today’s repeal of farm laws by PM @narendramodi, by all means, is so unlike him. Nonetheless, he, staking his political capital, took that repeal decision in the national interest and owned it up before nation.
If we look at 20 years of PM @narendramodi ‘s governance history, he has always proved his detractors wrong simply because he is not frozen in time. The dynamic nature of his politics and governance helps him tweak his decisions, so as to address emerging challenges!
Today’s repeal of farm laws will help cut the nascent umbilical connection that Khalistan lobby had succeeded in forging with the farm protestors. With the excuse no longer there, it will become easier to deal with this lobby
Also note how fiasco around LAB in 2015 didn’t cause much issues for the industry on land acquisition front. On one hand, several state govts found ways and means to escape draconian provisions of 2013 law and on other hand the law is still stuck in SC m.economictimes.com/news/politics-…
Just like LAB was rendered inconsequential, state govts will find ways and means to benefit farmers of improved market access.

Good thing about reform process is that it is an irreversible exercise & desired objectives are met but over longer duration and in different measure!
Politics of this country under PM Modi will take another turn now just like 2015. Let us see what happens. As a long term political watcher and commentator, foresee it to become another consolidation move and course correction by PM Modi like 2015. Baaki jaisi Prabhu Ichha!

PM @narendramodi announced repeal of 3 farm laws passed in Sep 2020. PM,in no uncertain terms, said that although laws were in the interest of farmers but agitational politics on these laws made it a national security issue thus prompting him to go 4 repeal
Despite PM Modi making it clear that he is ordering repeal of laws in the national interest, a sinister attempt to link it to UP elections was tried. Had it been about elections, pls note electoral performance of @BJP4India over past 12 months:
1) Assam: defeated anti incumbency
2. Puducherry: won 6 out of 9 seats that it contested and joined the Govt for the first time
3. Bengal : Became principle opposition party after winning 77 seats out of the 291 it contested. In 2016, BJP had won 3 out of the 291 contested seats in the parliament.

Truth is bitter:

@RahulGandhi has been using our faultlines to fan protests and burn the country for his political goals!

PM @narendramodi has staked his political capital by making a tactical retreat to spoil his plans and save the country

Choice is ours: what we want/like!
It is NOT a climb down as evident from experience of LAB & NJAC but a tactical retreat. Country saw 370 go and CAA after that tactical retreat. Just as earlier, now we may see some renewed vigour and action on reform and consolidation front!
Admirably PM @narendramodi had chosen to own up and announce the repeal himself in his address to the nation. What else are democracies about.Other side was hellbent on burning nation for their democratic goals; PM has shown remarkable democratic temperament to spoil their plans

I know lot of people are disappointed but then I will focus on only one line from PM @narendramodi speech while repealing farm laws:

किसानों के लिए किया था,देश के लिए वापिस ले रहा हूँ!

And PM announced repeal in his own address to the nation & staked his own political capital
I know lot of people will abuse me and write all kind of replies but then I will defend this decision as well simply because trust is either 100% or 0%. My trust in @narendramodi is absolute so I trust him when he says that he had to retreat in national interest
You hold PM & Gov accountable if it leads to kowtowing on its commitment to reforms or on acts like 370. Hold him accountable if his Govt allows this to become a norm. Instead push for hard actions on such politics of blackmail from now onwards. Moments like this require support!

I avoided responding to replies, that picked up on one part of PM @narendramodi ‘s 2019 Kashi speech while ignoring others tweeted. But give this reply by @bhAratenduH bhaiya;it pains me to say that his quoted tweet reeks of both-his intellectual arrogance & intellectual dishonesty
So @bhAratenduH bhaiya, why I call this quoted reply of yours to one part of PM @narendramodi ‘s Kashi corridor foundation laying speech of Mar 10,2019, an example of ur intellectual arrogance & dishonesty is because - I tweeted 5 tweets about that speech but u picked up on 4th!
