Court appearance in 20 minutes in the high-level case of Brian Mock of Minnesota, who's accused of assault on police on Jan 6

(Body worn camera is a court exhibit released by US Justice Dept)
Mock is appearing virtually from the DC jail, where he's been serving time in pretrial detention

Per my most recent count, 41 of the Jan 6 defendants are in the DC jail
Brian Mock is defending himself in his case

Standby. Let's see how he handles this status hearing in his case
Prosecutor says Mock got access to a computer in the jail from Nov 2-Nov 16 to review evidence

Mock - "The jail can claim whatever they want to claim".. but says he didn't get all the flash drives and has only had an opportunity to "less than 1%" of evidence discovery in case
Mock: "My due process has been violated... I don't see how this case can proceed" (referencing difficulty in getting access to case discovery, while in DC jail)
Mock: "I am a Jan 6 political prisoner"
Mock is arguing he has less access to discovery/evidence in case.. because he's defending himself and because he's in DC jail. Mock calls it an "equal protection issue"

Judge says "I don't see an equal protection issue"
Mock: "(Jail) doesn't let lawmakers in here to see us"

(Editor's note: Yes they do. They let Rep. Taylor-Greene into jail last week)
Mock: "I'm languishing in jail for a crime I didn't commit"
Mock: "I can prove every aspect of this is a lie"

Judge is trying to cut him off.... Judge says it's up to the US Justice Dept to prove things
Mock: "(The jail) doesn't allow me access to a law file....."

"Their sole goal is to keep me in here silenced.."

He's alleging "fraud" by US Justice Dept
Mock: "I should never have been detained".. he asks for evidentiary hearing

Judge instructs Mock to file a motion to review detention

Mock alleges jail won't let him file motions - "They put me in the hole"
Mock: "These people are literally treating me like a political prisoner"

Judge interjects and recommends Mock file a motion before next status hearing in case, which is Dec 16, 2021
Mock is speaking in a raised voice, sounds agitated

Keeps calling himself a "political prisoner".. says he shouldn't be detained

(Noting: He's one of a handful of Jan 6 defendants serving as his/her own defense attorney)
Mock does not want further speedy trial rights waived

He says feds have had 11 months to get evidence ready.

Judge is going to allow delay anyhow... arguing it's in the "interest of justice" to give feds more time
Brian Mock, who is accused of assault on police on Jan 6, will remain in the DC jail. Next hearing Dec 16

Mock is serving as his own attorney, he's in pretrial detention in jail.. claiming he's "political prisoner"

If it goes to trial, this case could be a spectacle

HAPPENING NOW:

Plea agreement hearing in Jan 6 case of James Little of N. Carolina

Little is accused of texting amid the mob:

"We just took over the Capital (sic).. We are stopping treason! Stealing elections is treason! We’re not going to take it anymore!”
Little's plea deal is to a misdemeanor. Unlawful picketing/parading (he joins the growing list of Jan 6 defendants cutting this deal)

0-6 months jail are the guidelines
$500 restitution. (Little just asked why he's gotta pay if he didn't cause damage)
There's a back and forth over whether to prohibit Little from possessing a firearm as he awaits sentencing. Defense says Little lives in the country... in the Piedmont area of N. Carolina and once had to shoot a wild animal attacking his dog

HAPPENING NOW: Court hearing for Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio, who is seeking release from jail to home detention, arguing substandard health conditions in DC jail

Tarrio is serving 5 months for stealing/burning BLM flag from DC church in late 2020
Tarrio is being held in a northeast unit in the Washington DC jail's Central Detention Facility, which is a unit for "protective" housing... to keep inmates away from general population

He's in cell 69, per attorney at hearing
Tarrio claims his cell has been impacted by standing sewage and smoke. Multiple defendants seeking release from DC jail have been citing a recent US Marshals inspection which found substandard conditions and medical care in DC's Central Detention Facility
