Ian Blackford's hourly rate is higher than those earned by Sir Geoffrey Cox, figures have shown
📊An analysis of entries into the parliamentary register of financial interests show that between January 2020 and April 2021, the Scottish National Party's Westminster leader earned roughly £48,500
During the period, he worked just 40 hours for Golden Charter, a trust which invests funds for individuals on funeral plans.
He has since left the role
➡️This means his hourly rate of £1,218 is higher than that of the former attorney general, whose hourly rate works out at £905 based on his current entries
📈However, Sir Geoffrey’s earnings far eclipse those of any member overall with more than £1 million of earnings in the period covering mid-2020 to November 1, working more than 1,100 hours

🔴The analysis also found that high earners include Fiona Bruce, the Conservative MP for Congleton, who brought in more than £40,000 from her legal firm – although she states much of this is “to meet tax liability”
➡️Whilst Conservatives dominate the list, high earners from other parties include Ed Davey, the leader of the Liberal Democrats, who earns roughly £833 for his consultancy work which he says helps support his disabled son
💷Jess Phillips and David Lammy score substantially above the average for other Labour MPs, with both of them earning about £280 an hour
💳Overall, MPs’ additional salary income since January 2020, combined with registered ad hoc payments which cover a slightly smaller period, equate to £7.3 million.
