NEW: An East LA deputy alleges a hostile work environment and "unrelenting" harassment by the #Banditos deputy gang in 2019. Deputy Robert Coyle says he was given "freeway therapy" when he requested to be transferred away and then moved to the jails when he sued. @SpecNews1SoCal
In the court docs, Coyle says the #Banditos gave him excessive calls for service and then withheld back up. He also alleges that other deputies assumed because he "was white, he must be an undercover FBI agent and harassed him."
I reached out to LASD but haven't heard back...I'll update the thread when they get back to me.
Coyle's lawyer, Vince Miller, sent me a photo of a decapitated rat the deputy found outside his bedroom window this morning after filing his updated lawsuit. This is the second dead rat photo I've received from a lawyer representing an LASD whistleblower.
Here setting up to cover a press conference with @LAPDChiefMoore and the ATF regarding the #LAPDblast in South Central LA that displaced 70+ people and severely damaged several homes and businesses. @SpecNews1SoCal
Chief Moore begins and apologizes for this outdoor presser that will be long and hot
“I want to personally express my apologies” to everyone effected. “I am sorry that this occurred. Additionally, I acknowledge that there are many others traumatized by the blast.” says @LAPDChiefMoore who says his officers “acted in good faith.”
THREAD: It's been *checks calendar* a month following housing efforts on the Venice Beach Boardwalk as @mikebonin's "Encampment to Home" program progresses to the most complicated structures (and people) living along Ocean Front Walk.

Robert moved into the Bridge Home shelter in Venice five weeks ago and is now receiving medical treatment for conditions he developed on the street. The swelling that makes walking painful is from sleeping in his wheelchair.
“I want to clean up Los Angeles while being respectful to the unhouse,” says @JoeBuscaino as he launches his campaign for mayor of Los Angeles. He’s announcing a three point plan for “a safer Los Angeles.”
His 3 point plan: 1. Cut red tape to build housing faster 2. Get rid of LAHSA and build new system 3. Enforcement that bans encampments at parks, beaches and sidewalks
“Homelessness is an emergency in the city of Los Angeles.”
THREAD: Compton officials are investigating a whistleblower's allegations the @LASDCompton station defrauded the city out of millions of dollars through "minutes fraud."
An anonymous deputy claims the city paid millions of dollars for services they never received.

The city pays the sheriff's department $24 million for a specific amount of deputy time committed to "crime suppression."
The whistleblower claims detectives regularly logged unauthorized duties on the city's dime - resulting in understaffing the number on patrol.
“City leadership is focused on investigating the allegations brought forward in this letter,” said City Attorney Damon Brown. “Our top priority is to ensure that Compton residents receive fair and equitable services from the Sheriff’s Department."
BREAKING: Deputy Miguel Vega, who shot and killed #AndresGuardado, is out of the country and will not be testifying at the coroner's inquiry into the shooting.
Retired Judge Candace Cooper says the inquest will be continued until he comes back to Los Angeles. @SpecNews1SoCal
Retired judge Candace Cooper says she believes he intends to invoke the 5th amendment but may give a written declaration.
Deputy Chris Hernandez invoked his fifth amendment and submitted a written declaration. He did not show up at the inquiry either, and former judge Cooper says he may be subpoenaed again.
There are now four whistleblowers with similar stories of alleged deputy gang activity by so-called "Executioners" at the Compton sheriff's station, according to attorney Alan Romero.
They are all in fear for their lives, especially after one found a dead rat on his doorstep.
Deputy Art Gonzalez - whose testimony is now public - has not received any protection from @LASDHQ after reporting alleged gang activity by a group of 15-20 deputies with matching skull tattoos.
Instead, he says his initial, anonymous complaint was quickly leaked to the gang:
Gonzalez says Executioners held crucial positions at the Compton station: scheduling, dispatch and even internal affairs. That gave the alleged gang immense power - allowing them to give overtime, days off, and assignments to members and prospects.
