"Aaron, I have profitable runs for days/weeks and give it all back and more in one day and I don't know why"

I get this a lot.

Let's look at what's happening and try to correct it.
👇
We know the market can be an emotional minefield, so we must be a minesweeper. We gotta sniff out these "give it all back" sessions in advance.

Let's start with some parallels in everyday life for clues.

When challenged in an argument or intense discussion do you feel..👇
..an intense urge to lash out?

Do you say things you don't mean to get the other person to back down?

Do you allow anger/frustration to force a response that can be detrimental, but at the moment feels worth it?

These behaviors are common. And I find them to be common in..👇

Do you struggle with discipline and holding to the boundaries you set for your behavior?

✍️Try this:

Make it bigger than you, and tie it to something deeply fulfilling and MEANINGFUL.

What's the real reason you're trying to succeed in trading?
👇
Is it to:

1⃣ spend more time with family
2⃣ independence from the 9-5
3⃣ prove something to yourself/others
4⃣ be a role model to your children
5⃣ to help others in need
6⃣ put your children through college

Tie it to more than money and zoom out from the hidden world of trading
If we trade in a little bubble, with no real "why" it's easy to bend our rules, hide our mistakes and brush them aside. It habituates the wrong behavior.

However, IF when I make a mistake it means I'm less likely to ever have that independence or help others, let down family👇

$ES looks to me like a 100 point range of fuckery.

A strong move with acceptance above 4535 or below 4435 and I’ll believe the move.
$ES chart - 3 day composite on the right - wouldn't surprise me to chop everyone to death in that LVN so I be careful initiating trades between 4485-4489.50
Low of the day, high of the day tagging the blue zones. Above 4489.50 with acceptance and I think we zip higher.

Trade the Plan 🧵 1/x

Not knowing what you’re looking at is frustrating, but knowing what you’re looking at and NOT being able to execute is utterly demoralizing!

Sound familiar:

You analyzed the market top to bottom…
You created a plan…
You have an ideal trade…
2/x

The market is doing exactly what you anticipated…

Your A+ trade is lining up…

You start to question your thesis when it’s a few ticks away and cancel the order…

It bounces where you thought it would…

You wait…
3/x

It runs up a few points, you think, “shit, my thesis was right...”

You market order late - out of position…

Price comes back down to retest your original desired entry and stops you out…

Everything happened as planned.. without you.

It’s common; it’s not just you.

Woke up thinking about the time I traveled deep into the mountains in the Northern Philippines to get tattooed by the last remaining (102 year old) Mambabatok tribe member Apo Whang Od.
They use a thorn from a local bush strapped to a piece of bamboo and tap away, the ink is charcoal.
To get to the village of Buscalan it’s and 8 hour bus from Manila, then one of those small busses with people hanging all over it, then a motorcycle to the trailhead, then a 45 minute hike. It’s just above my shoulder in this image.
