You've just described how democratic voting systems function across the entire world. Keep enough people onside, divide the opposition & you retain power ad infinitum. Weird that
Thatcher in the UK, from 1979. Make a whole bunch of people very rich by selling off public assets in a fire sale, hugely reduce taxes on high incomes & businesses, enable low income earners to buy their council houses dirt cheap. Introduce indirect taxation favouring the wealthy
This resulted in opposition parties splitting & becoming inconsistent & more desperate, thereby less attractive & kept the Tories in power for 18 years
And the 13 years of Labour which followed reversed none of this, thereby leading to the Tories going back into power & holding it ever since. Thatcher changed the politics of the UK, quite possibly forever, as anyone who seeks to challenge it, is crucified

Having babies isn't the difficult part, it's the bit after having them. The raising, nurturing, housing, educating. There are economic & environmental barriers. Maybe ask people why they're not all bringing babies into the world? You may learn something
Wealthier nations have lower birth rates, the rate is often lower than population maintenence levels. Why is this? Choice is an important factor, many don't want children & this is a valid choice that must be accepted. A great many defer having children until circumstances improve
For an increasing number, circumstances aren't improving, or the improvement comes along a little too late. Housing costs, cost of living & a whole array of stresses & worries, are also factors

@Peston It's not without precedent, because Sachs did the same

What's alarming is the lack of scrutiny being applied to these statements

They're just accepted as gospel, which is kinda weird

I though the media was supposed to question & yet it appears it is only their role to amplify
@Peston His intervention hasn't introduced introspection, or discussion

His intervention has introduced accusation & blame, without support for such, other than rhetoric & belief

Facts aren't being presented, you aren't providing insight or analysis

You are providing only amplification
@Peston There's no skepticism here, there's no suggestion that he may be wrong or misdirected

It is likewise with Tony Blair, it is assumed he speaks only the truth, that there are no other versions of the truth

This is establishment going uncriticised & worshipped

This is the poison

Is it really about Corbyn being unpopular, or is it about how popular he could be?…
It seems evident that a lot of people are more anti Corbyn than they are anti Brexit, if a no deal Brexit is such a terrible disaster, you would think that holding your nose for a few weeks wouldn't be so difficult. A caretaker PM only has the power given to them by parliament
There's literally nothing Corbyn could do, that has any significant opposition, as he doesn't have the parliamentary numbers. There's no harm at all for the country, by putting him there, just for a short stint, unless you are a political opponent & his tenure proves popular
