Some people say that we shouldn't invest in space programs/exploration because we need to solve problems down here on Earth first, but what you may not know is some of the things we use every day were invented because of space programs/research. Here's a few.

• Scratch-resistant lenses:
• Ear thermometers
• Shoe insoles
• Invisible braces for teeth
• Tap water filters
• Satellite navigation
• Memory foam
• Smoke detectors
• Safety grooving
• Ventricular assist device
• Cochlear implants
• Artificial limbs
• Space blanket
• 3D foods printing
• Aircraft anti-icing systems
• Highway safety (safety grooving)
• Improved radial tires
• Video enhancing and analysis systems
• Landmine removal
• Fire-resistant reinforcement
• Firefighting equipment
• Shock absorbers for buildings
• Enriched baby food
• Freeze drying
• Air-scrubbers
• Solar Cells
• Pollution remediation
• Structural analysis software
• Remotely controlled ovens
• Powdered lubricants
• Gold plating
Those are just a few examples. These space programs/companies like NASA and SpaceX are more important than you may think. Their importance goes beyond just putting rockets, humans and satellites into Space.
“You want to wake up in the morning and think the future is going to be great - and that’s what being a spacefaring civilization is all about. It’s about believing in the future and thinking that the future will be better than the past - @elonmusk

First, the build quality is not surprisingly good, it's expected. Elon said: Giga Berlin is aiming for extreme precision with next gen Model Y – microns, not millimeters. Second, IMO we need to stop bringing up panel gaps all the time.

At this stage, Teslas panels gaps I would say are pretty much in line or at least close to what the competition has. The only reason it may seem like Teslas are worse is because we bring up the topic so much in our community while it's never really talked about with other OEM's.
By bringing up panels gaps so much, we just keep this narrative alive that Teslas panel gaps are bad (they used to be), which they aren't. Fremont build quality's come a long way and Giga Texas/Berlin will be world class. Can't wait to see micron precision with these factories!

I’ve been told the following info:

Tesla 4680 yield is very good. They are still working on the throughput. Many variables at play: increasing speed uncovers simple engineering issues that need adjusting or fixing.

4680s have been in production for a long time now on the pilot line. Some 4680s are going to multiple testing facilities in US & Germany. Other 4680s are being used by the structural pack engineering team, rest are being stockpiled. It’s unknown how many they've stockpiled.

Initial 4680 production capacity installation at Giga Texas will be for around 500k vehicles per year. Let’s be clear, this is just the initial capacity. Capacity will increase over time, and quite significantly with added 4680 production lines, which are modular.

I was told by a few sources that Elon is holding a Tesla all hands meeting as we speak. I will let you know if anything interesting is shared.
I'm just gonna live tweet it. Here are a few things Elon has said so far:

• GF Berlin, Oct approval.
• Tesla is going to spell Tesla on GF Austin roof
for planes landing on airport near by.
• He is praising the Tesla team for their hard work
• "FSD 10 is quite profound, a revelation, is the future; V10 next week and “button request” 2 weeks after that" Elon said
