To Quentin Letts and others who think that the desperate human beings crossing the Channel are coming here for benefits, a reminder.

Asylum seekers in the UK receive on average just £5.66 - a day.
For those who think "they all want to come here because we are a soft touch" - a reminder.

The UK - disgracefully - is home to just 1% of the estimated 26.4 million refugees, forcibly displaced by war and other events across the globe.
And finally for those who think France takes fewer refugees than us and that they all pass through there to come here.... you're wrong. France takes considerably more than we do as does Germany
Letts has had a very comfortable, very privileged, very safe life. It's a pity he's not taken a couple of moments out from his journalism to look up a few facts.

He comes out with the "soft touch" thing as well. Which is demonstrably false.

Lee Anderson Tory MP for Ashfield Nottinghamshire wants to send asylum seekers to The Falklands
“The only way we will put these people off is by giving them the message that if you come here you are going to be sent 8,000 miles away."

Because obviously…
Apart from anything else reprehensible about this, using the Falkland Islands as a glorified holding pen says a lot about this MPs contempt... for the Falklands
What do you think @falklands_utd ?

On the basis of what I've seen of his #bbcqt performance last night, it seems that Jordan Peterson and his acolytes have mistaken 'made up words' for intellect.

How much do you think it cost Roald Amundsen to send a telegram to Norway (from Canada) in 1906? He had just successfully navigated the North West passage so he had a lot to say - 1,000 words to be precise but how much... in US dollars.
Answer. $755.28 Image
