◉ Man City final third chance creation patterns [Tactical thread]

#CityPSG
#UCL
PS: ( I hired Leicester groundsmen )

◉ Wide triangles as starting forms to circulate
◉ Half-space runs

The runs I am about to show you (including this) have been performed after having a sequence of passes + switching the point of attack, why? Simply to disorganize PSG's last 2 lines as Pochettino had 3 def mids in the 2nd to track these kinds of runs.
◉ Runs between the CBs

Mahrez enjoyed a lot of 1v1s as he either had dribbles, crosses, or shots where he mainly was the width option to switch(the runs can be spotted on both sides).
Gundogan had those runs between PSG CBs as gaps appeared due to City overloading the far post.
◉ Passes through half-spaces
◉ Overlaps

Especially in the right-wing where City used Walker pace.
◉ Making runs in behind ( led to 1st goal )

When? The player in possession (Rodri) receives having time and space + space between players is not too big.
How? As Rodri turns his head up, Walker makes a diagonal run to stay onside + in the defender blindside.
◉ Half space crosses ( led to 2nd goal)

Usually to the far post options, where City overloads PSG defenders. Mahrez and Cancelo had these types of crosses.

A build-up solution adopted by Liverpool v. Inter
◉ Having Robertson too deep in line with the CBs = attracted Inter RWB more, creating good space in behind to operate
◉ Below, directly to Diaz (LW) = 1v1 situation

1/4...
@11OnceSport
@11OnceSport ◉ False 9 Firmino dropping to the space left in behind Inter right winger-back.
2/4
◉ Again, direct to the left-winger (Mane) + F9 (Jota) supports in the target area.

[Random tactical thread]
Milan created a mid-box around Sampdoria mid 3 in 532.
◉ From initial 4231, Massias occupied an inside role to form a box alongside Milan's other mids.
◉ The aim in the 1st phase of build-up is to find the extra man in ...

...Midfield using the GK in the process.

◉ However, if the extra man couldn't be found, they play directly to the target player Giroud who is surrounded by the upper face of the box at least
(as shown in 1st video).

◉ If they don't get the 2nd ball, they can still regain it due to the distances being closer centrally.

How can you analyze an opposing team's defensive line? [Thread]
Out of possession:

◉ Do they stay in a low block or do they go higher up to press?

◉ Until which point in the field can their advanced defensive line reach?

◉ After that direct play to their teammates in the front, do they immediately go higher too? Or they don't?
◉ Is their defensive positioning deep? Meaning if they are too close to each other or they leave spaces between them to cover wide spaces?

◉ Their ability to win Aerial duels?

◉ Do they find difficulties in 1v1 situations?

◉ Do they use the offside trap?

◉ Some build-up methods adopted by Real Sociedad 433 earlier this season when faced Roger Schmidt's PSV in 4231
[short tactical thread]
#PSV
#RealSociedad
#UEL Image
◉ Involving GK in the build-up

This usually forced PSV to commit their CAM alongside the CF to press Sociedad GK + CBs, and one CM to jump on the DM. as a consequence, PSV 2 CMs are underloaded in the center as well as their right winger being in a dilemma out wide Image
When their CAM stayed with Sociedad DM, PSV LW tried to press the RCB + LB=> RB. Here GK with a long distribution to Isak (CF) positioned on the left HS while being surrounded by a W, CM, even the RB for a 2nd ball chance.
