For Thanksgiving me and @theSamParr made a list of our "Favorite Finds" of the year

*stuff (gadgets, etc.)
*apps

Here's the list of my favorite finds!

FAVORITE APPS:

I have apps for FUN (Twitter, TikTok, games..) and WORK (email, slack..)

These are great, but they keep the mind BUSY at all times.

So I found a few apps that bring PEACE of mind

#1 @fiveminutejour = Bring awareness to the things in my day I'm grateful for

#2 I've tried starting "meditation" many times but it never clicked and became something I enjoy.

Until I discovered "breathwork". My new morning routine is @othership_us. Guided breathwork by @robbiebent1 (was early at Ethereum). The music is top notch, makes it fun

When covid hit, I bought ~$3k worth of equipment to try and get the fancy ass Super-HD Camera and blurred background like @garrytan

I'm too dumb to set it up, and it didn't travel with me.

w/ Camo. My iPhone = DLSR quality webcam for $50!

FAVORITE CHROME EXTENSION

#4 - Everyday.app is an awesome habit/streak tracker that lives in the browser.

Every time you open a new tab, you're reminded of the habits you're building.

The green visual streak is super satisfying.

FAVORITE BLOG POST:

Frank Slootman (CEO of multiple $50B+ companies) wrote an awesome blog post about driving up the intensity & performance inside a company.

Hot take: Everyone is wrong about the Metaverse.

here's my 3 part theory..

Part I - Everyone is wrong

Most people think "the metaverse" is a virtual place.

Like in the movie Ready Player One.

A virtual world, like Minecraft, Roblox, or like Zuck showed in the facebook demo yesterday.

But what if it's not a place?

Part II - It's Not a Place, It's a Time

A time? wtf?

Yes, a moment in time.

You know in artificial intelligence, there's an idea of "the singularity"?

It's a moment in time where AI becomes smarter than humans. The moment when artificial intelligence > human intelligence

Another good one. There’s a story about a guy who wanted to work for Thomas Edison but had no qualifications or access to him.

When Edison saw him, he was a stranger but something about the way he introduced himself struck Edison

writing a book seems like a horrible idea.

normal =

* takes ~1 year before any results
* takes ~1,000 hours of input
* will make ~$0 or worse

hmm.. I want to hack the process

--> build in public, don't wait a year to publish
--> spend 50 hours instead of 1,000 (ghost scribe)

Most NFTs today follow the same "copy pasta" playbook.

- pick an animal (apes, penguins, lions etc.)
- autogenerate 10,000 variations
- try to sell it as the next big thing (get rich quick)
- and give 'exclusive access' to a discord

I wanted to do something different..

I wanted to create an NFT that had utility. Inspired by the willy wonka golden ticket idea.

Get a golden ticket, get access into the chocolate factory (hard/impossible to get otherwise)

So I created "5 Minutes of Fame"...

it gives the holder 5 minutes of airtime on our podcast, My First Million.

The podcast gets about ~1 Million downloads per month, and is growing about 20-30% compounded monthly

We don't take any external advertisers, so this is really the only way to buy your way onto the show

OK let's try something fun.

I just minted a new NFT called "5 Minutes of Fame" on @opensea

This is a 1 of 1.

And it's not just a picture, it has actual utility built in.

Here's how it works:

first - here's the link to the NFT opensea.io/assets/0x495f9…

The NFT gives the holder the rights to 5 minutes of airtime on the My First Million podcast (~1 million downloads a month)

That "airtime" if we sold to a sponsor would be worth a few thousand. I started the auction at 0.25 ETH

The time is yours. You can use it how you want.

cryptoweek. follow this thread (learn by doing.. learn in public)

started off creating a mental map for what all there is to learn.

I just went to disneyland, so I'm thinking about it like a big amusement park, with different rides.

Token Town
the DeFi District
NFT Mountain
etc..

Starting in the NFT world bc that's probably the area I understand the least.

I get it intellectually... but I "don't get it" in the sense that I can't bring myself to buy an expensive ape or punk.

The most interesting thing here is "Loot"
