One of the scary thinga about ayah which states

(و لا تطع من أغفلنا قلبه عن ذكرننا تبع هواه و كان أمرره فرطا)

is that it is the heart that remembers Allah, not the tongue. So it may be that we remember Allah with our tongues, but our hearts are closed to his remembrance.

What makes this even more disturbing is the hadith

اذا كان احدكم في الصلاة فإنه يناجي ربه

"When any of you is engaged in prayer, he is holding intimate conversation with his Lord..." [Muslim 551]

We've all had conversations with someone who was not focusing on us...

...instead checking their phone and clearly not paying attention, and it's very rude and unpleasant to deal with such a person.

Yet it's very easy to fall into similar behavior in salah, to recite the remembrance of Allah with our tongues, while our hearts are closed to it.

Imagine how we dislike to converse with someone who does not focus on and care about the conversation, and then imagine how we would dislike if we showed these same bad manners to a close friend. So how much greater is Allah's right, subhanahu wa t'ala, to our good manners?

It may be useful to observe what it is that busies our hearts in salah and prevents the hearts from being open to the remembrance of Allah.

Ahmad ibn Hanbal, rahimullah, said that zuhd (asceticism) is of 3 degrees.

1) to leave everything that Allah has forbidden.

2) to leave what is permissible but unnecessary.

3) to leave everything that distracts you from Allah.

So perhaps by observing what distracts us from Allah in our salah, we can identify unnecessary parts of our life we need to renounce, guard against, or move away from.

Certainly, in many cases it is matters relating to the future that busy us, "طول الأمل" or hopes about what we might do in the future, although we have no guarantee that we will live to see tomorrow, or even that we will live to the end of our salah.

This relates to those who struggle in the path of Allah and who kill and are killed being among the elite worshippers of Allah, subhanahu wa t'ala, as much as one who fasts and prays continuously.

To embark upon the path of Allah means to renounce one's life and future...

...completely, and to accept the possibility of death or imprisonment wholeheartedly. Not only does one accept these possibilities, but they become ever present realities, companions on the way, which significantly reduce the attraction of all of the hopes and worries...

...that cover our hearts and prevent the remembrance of Allah from entering deeply into them.

What is actually the problen with preventing girls from going to school?

Formal educational level is strongly correlated to divorce, and divorce is strongly correlated to (generational) mental illness, criminality, and more divorce.

Still, many of the women of Islamic history who memorized Quran and books of fiqh, mastered Arabic grammar, etc. would be considered uneducated by "modern" standards.
