For those of you following the #CFBMarbleGame, Nate has updated the standings after rivalry weekend. Current Top 4 marble holders: Georgia (644), Okie St (543), Michigan (537), Alabama (478). Thanks Nate!
Reminder on how the marble standings are calculated:

If the Marble Game was used to select the 4 team playoffs after the conference title games:

Georgia is lock for Top 4, even with loss to Alabama
Alabama and winners of B1G and B12 are in with a win, out with a loss
ACC and P12 winners are mathematically eliminated
Cincinnati is in with a win + Georgia win
Notre Dame is in with a Georgia win + Cincinnati loss
Possible outcomes of conference title games (neutral sites, each team has 20% of their marbles at stake) Image
All possible outcomes of relevant conference title games, and the marble count top 4 after: Image
correction: if Georgia, Michigan, OkSt, and Houston win (line 2), Top 4 marble counts would be 1. Georgia, 2. Ok St. 3. Michigan, and 4. Notre Dame

QTing this to avoid clogging up Mr Williams's TL; these are pretty interesting and useful math concepts. Tessellation is about diving a space in to sections (it means "tiling").
For example you can tessellate a flat surface with triangles or squares or hexagons or herringbone. They don't have to be same shapes, tho; state borders are one way to tessellate a map of the US.

A Voronoi tessellation is a special example involving centroids.
Voronoi tessellation starts with points on a plane, the draws the linear borders that dissect the plane equidistant between points.

example: get a map of the US, erase the borders between states, but leave the 50 state capitals on it as centroids.

I realize college football programs are more like independent companies than academic departments, but I defy you to show me a $150 million revenue company that pays its CEO $10 million per year
Not having to pay your employees really frees up the salary budget for the executive suite, I guess
of course a declining football program means a loss of wealth and reputation and prestige for the greater university, and we wouldn't want LSU to suffer the same fate as Harvard or the University of Chicago

Like all Iowa fans I watch the annual college football coach musical chairs season half in amusement, half in jealousy
When Ferentz retires there won't be a coaching search, LeVar Woods will just move two doors down into Ferentz's office and for the next 25 years after that they will win 8-10 games per season while never scoring > 21 points / game.

I'm OK with that, it's kinda soothing
When everybody else in the neighborhood is making payments on a used Ferrari that broke down in their driveway, I'm not going to complain about Iowa's reliable beige '99 Toyota Camry
