It's absolutely mind boggling how good the tools we have available to us today are. Sometimes it's good to take a step back + appreciate the what's being built around us to make using bitcoin in a sovereign manner easy.
Here's a few worth mentioning...
Effective + easy to use coinjoin, available to anyone with an Android phone thanks to @SamouraiWallet. You can even use the same CJ implementation on your laptop and mix straight to cold storage thanks to @SparrowWallet.
Samourai (and VERY soon Sparrow!), enable automated 2 person coinjoins so that you can collaborate with someone on the other side of the planet to literally make every spend a coinjoin.
@RaspiBlitz and @RoninDojoUI are two fantastic free and open source node implementations, packed with useful tools, that make getting started with your own node approachable.
Specter Desktop means you can have your own node on your existing laptop and interact with your signing devices easily without the need to splash out for dedicated hardware.
The hardware wallet space continues to move forward thanks to air-gapped solutions offering QR communications like @FOUNDATIONdvcs (yes of course, I'm biased).
If you have the skills, you can even build your own QR signing device for $50 thanks to the team behind @SeedSigner
We have new Lightning standards emerging that enable static + reusable invoices that do not require a web server thanks to @rusty_twit.
You can show support for your favourite podcaster with direct tipping thanks to @Breez_Tech and @fountain_app
Anyone can now become a Bitcoin merchant and sell their goods/skills for sats without a middle man thanks to @BtcpayServer and @SatoshiSale
We have an abundance of incredible educational material from individuals like @ministryofnodes, @econoalchemist , @BTCsessions , @Diverter_NoKYC to name just a few and more hours of actionable podcast content than anyone could listen to. It has never been easier to get started!
If things are this good now, imagine what they'll be like in another 5/10 years! I for one am eternally thankful for all of the individuals behind every one of the teams mentioned above.
Support FOSS whenever, wherever + however you can.

In light of the increasing frequency of censorship events coupled with awesome guides from bitcoiners like @Diverter_NoKYC + @_k3tan, I've taken steps to become a little more sovereign + less reliant on 'the man'. Here's a few tweets to hopefully inspire you to do the same...
In the space of just a few days, I've created my first VPS at @Namecheap (paid in sats) + installed @yunohost to run my own...
If you want to do the same, @Diverter_NoKYC has this awesome guide (which he's self hosting, obviously!) and was the impetus for me to finally make a move.
Today is #CoinJoinDay so after smelting a healthy amount of sats in Whirlpool I decided to spend some doxxic change and support the team over @lightnitegame by signing up for the alpha.
With the massive rise in @SamouraiWallet Whirlpool usage since the introduction of mobile mixing I've finally got round to mixing some sats and thought I'd document the process for other people taking their first steps poolside that may have felt apprehensive about starting

First step is to send some sats into your wallet.
Hit the blue + in the bottom right hand corner of the home screen and hit receive.
You will then be given a screen like this.
Scan the QR code or copy the address and paste into whatever wallet you are sending from.

The transaction should appear in SW almost straight away and you will then need to wait for the transaction to confirm on chain.
Obviously how long this takes depends on the mempool and the fees paid.
I've decided to do a daily tweet throughout 2020 with something I've learned about Bitcoin. Hopefully come Dec 31st I'll have a juicy thread that I can look back on realise how much I've learned.
They likely wont follow any specific theme but will all be Bitcoin related. Where possible I will reference who/where I learned the info from
Today is Jan 14th so I'm starting a little late but here goes.
Jan 14th - Today in Bitcoin I learned...
How to connect my @ElectrumWallet mobile app to my own node to have a watch only wallet that I can trustlessly and privately over @torproject receive Bitcoin with no xPub leaks.
Thanks to someone in the @mynodebtc telegram group
