I watch THE ROCKFORD FILES with an eye for what makes a show of its era different from a show today
especially with regard to questions like “how did they not kill James Garner, who is in literally every scene, from overwork”

Things I have noticed about THE ROCKFORD FILES, from a production standpoint compared to today:
* more varied pacing of cuts
* shots go on longer
* fewer variations in angles
* a lot of the times their location shoots use sublocations at one main location — 3 or 4 little scenes

* the sets they do have are less elaborate
* comparatively little use of standing sets

I really want to find shooting schedules for THE ROCKFORD FILES. There have to be some in some library in LA somewhere.

It’s taken a couple of acts, but now the TV is showing — more scenes clearly shot in the studio, stock footage of freeways to pad time and show Jim Rockford had to travel a bit
