Remainder of Labour reshuffle due to be announced soon.
Am told @elliereeves is no2 in the justice team, recognising her work on VAWG and also her political leadership on the Bexley campaign..plus...
.@HollyLynch5 gets shadow securities minister. She’s impressed Starmer, (and don't forget she ran the Batley byelxn that turned round his fortunes)...plus..
.@mtpennycook gets shadow housing - big role, recognising impact he had on climate change brief...plus...
..@TulipSiddiq is new shadow City minister, another key role for Labour
Also @karinsmyth and @GwynneMP to make comebacks to front bench roles. As the PM does with his reshuffles (@GeorgeFreemanMP, @DamianHinds) it's a smart idea to show return is possible for those moved in previous reshuffles.
Key rewards for ex shadow health team of @AlexNorrisNN (who led superbly for Lab in debate on covid this week) and @justinmadders (who has been party's attack dog on test and trace).
Norris gets levelling up dept job, Madders gets shad employment

It's Saturday, the perfect time for a look back on the week in politics.
Here's my long read on @Keir_Starmer's reshuffle and next steps.

inews.co.uk/news/politics/…
Packed with behind-the-scenes detail and informed by multiple sources.
Most were impressed by the new front bench.
But one disgruntled shadow minister (who remains loyal) had a weary gallows humour: "Keir’s laid down his friends for his life."
And one new recruit to the Shad Cab gave the game away last wk when staff held a "pre-appointment" celebration, having been tipped off about their imminent promotion.

My piece + more politics (inc @katyballs on Truss v Putin, @ChaplainChloe in NShropshire) in @theipaper Weekend

Govt gets its social care amendment through by 272 to 246. Majority slashed but Tory abstainers will be worth counting.
Maybe not the best look for the Govt that before the vote that could hit Northern homeowners hardest, the Tory Party in London was flogging off ministerial time to raise cash from donors.

You know something political has got poss cut through when AntnDec feature it on #ImACeleb
Tonight Dec did a @BorisJohnson impression as he riffled through his script: "Forgive me...forgive me..."

Lay member of Commons Standards Committee hits out at ‘slanderous’ attacks on anti-sleaze chief

inews.co.uk/news/lay-membe…
My full interview with @TammyBanksy will be on @BBCRadio4's Week In Westminster at 11am today.

It's rare for lay members of the committee to speak publicly, but she lays bare her frustration at the events of the past week - while stressing some good may come out of the 'debacle'
If there's one positive feature of this week, it's to show that members of the public really aren't shut out of the standards system at present.
@TammyBanksy is one of 7 independent members of the 14-strong Standards Cttee, and she is superb.

BREAKING Standards reform passes: 250 votes for, 232 votes against.
Shouts of 'shame!' from Labour. And one MP: 'What have you done to this place'.
On those figures, more than 100 Tory MPs may have defied their govt whip. Which is some 'rebellion' but not enought
MPs vote now against Paterson 30-day suspension by 248 to 221.

And here he is. @JeffBezos tells #COP26 that 'when I was in space' earlier this year he realised just how thin the globe's atmosphere was.
Think he forgot to mention just how many fossil fuels he spent getting into space. Image
Bezos announces 'I am pleased to announce a £2bn pledge to restoring nature', part of a £10bn Bezos earth fund.
Proof that he has the same clout as many world leaders here. Wonder if he will reference how much tax he pays in individual countries..?
Bezos says Amazon aims to power all its operations by 100% renewables by 2025 and is ‘working towards’ making its vehicles electric. 'Working towards' is doing a fair bit of work there.
