That's a completely different conversation and misses the point. It may be true for births; I'm not talking about birth. I am specifically talking about in utero - before the child is born.
Right now, pregnant women get deported. Yet, Republicans are trying to have it both ways by trying to claim equal protection rights for fetuses and trying to deny expectant mothers abortions while in custody to force them to eventually give birth...
...and while still deporting those expectant mothers. But if equal rights under the 14th amendment really apply as they say, then based on republicans' own logic, fetuses have ALL rights not just some when it's convenient, including citizenship BEFORE THEY'RE BORN.
That then calls into question deportation for pregnant women. Some expectant mother will call their bluff on that to block deportation BEFORE the baby is born. It's not an anchor baby issue.
Of course, live-borns are citizens. It's about the citizenship status of the fetus itself. That's the point.

What's the point of institutions if they don't save and protect their own system?

I believe most rational people would agree that there are three things at stake:

1. governing and meeting the people's needs particularly in times of crisis,
2. justice and accountability, and
3. saving democracy.

Does that sound about right?

There is tremendous obstruction, sabotage, and outright maliciousness from an entire dysfunctional political party, along with some self-loathing, self-destruction from some egomaniacs within the governing party itself.
It's deliberately intended to make governance impossible while extracting benefits for personal agendas. But at least a competent administration is in place to fight the battle to govern. They're trying to meet the needs of the people the previous administration sorely neglected.

It can't go unchallenged:

If a woman gets pregnant and is forced to carry to full term with lost work time, potential sickness, high pregnancy risks, bills and expenses, possible disruptions to already existing family life, and an infinite list of other factors...
...there's no way that's comparable to putting a child up for adoption. Even the suggestion that that it's an alternative for women in crisis is so flip and dismissive that it reduces the status of women from sentient beings with agency to the rough equivalent of breeding cattle.
And even the issue adoption can be traumatic and life-changing too, as it is personal a matter for a woman to decide for herself as getting an abortion in the first place. It is ultimate hubris for anyone else to decide that they can make that choice.

A Christmas Wish: Industrialized Nations, stop being ASSHOLES. There are a million reasons they should stop being that way (like global warming), but need to help poor ones with #COVID19 is critical. Vaccines exist for prevention, and treatments exist for those who get infected.
Rich nations have the capacity to help, but instead horde vaccines and treatments to themselves. Yet as long as there's one nation not being helped, the potential for variants and continued disease spread persists for the rest the world including rich countries.
And the variants become more virulent. That's just stupid. So, the rich nations need to get over themselves and do the right thing for once - even if they do it for completely selfish reasons.

Who knows, doing the right thing could just become a habit?

The thing we mustn't overlook about the Arbery trial, specifically the racist defense attempted by the lawyers, lack of police reform, as well as the current full-on drive to implement voter nullification, and the concocted fear of CRT is that the root cause for all is identical.
Even the miscarriage of justice in the Rittenhouse Trial falls under the same rubric.

As we fight to preserve democracy, we can't be lulled into believing that we're fighting multiple issues on multiple fronts or that some liberals have different issues or agendas from others.
That's what democracy haters would have us believe. That's gaslighting predicated on lies. It's really all one issue that's a cancer on our society and democracy. We can't and mustn't allow our attentions to be diverted, and our efforts - thus our focus and strength - be split.

Just 365 days ago, many of us were cloistered inside our homes, isolated from family, still not working or in school, and cut off from many of the things that add to our quality of life. Some of us were even seriously physically ill, and didn't know if we would make it.
Last year this time, we were staring at the teeth of daily death counts, escalating infection counts, overrun hospitals, and were heartsick at the sight and cries of overwhelmed and exhausted hospital worker, first responders, and essential workers who sacrificed themselves...
...to keep the basics of life available, and to keep safe the rest of us safe and healthy. And, the problem was still getting worse not better, with no leadership, no real guidance, and no care coming from those responsible for providing for the general welfare of us all.

Remember this case? If not, you should. This case sums up everything that's wrong in this country about the treatment of black people in the "justice system," the systemic negligence, mistreatment, and revictimization of abused women, the fallacy of Stand Your Ground laws.
And before you start with bogus, nonsensical, the stand your ground laws and Castle Doctrine are two different things, don't even bother. The arbitrary, abusive, discriminatory outcomes are the same for victims no matter how you pretend they're different.

So, save your breath.
When outraged mobs whine for justice and mercy for men with guns and complain about unfair treatment - almost always white men, always with guns - the "justice system" ignores women in life-or-death situations who get no such consideration often from guess who? Men with guns.
