#360Mentor. It is a truth universally acknowledged that diets are not sustainable for healthy living. The alternative is adopting a healthy life style. Atamba Lakeli @LifestyleAlt is here this evening to speak on that(fitness, nutrition& mental health)
twitter.com/i/spaces/1vOGw…
Come along as @rkabushenga and @Comrade_Otoa host.
#360Mentor
@LifestyleAlt is a registered nurse whose personal experience prompted her to seek alternate ways to beat the post-partum depression she went through.

#360Mentor

Such stories amaze me. When people draw from their challenges to assist others.👏
@LifestyleAlt advises that the base line for change in lifestyle is knowing your parameters of health. Height, weight, circumference, glucose levels etc.

Start from a point of knowledge - information.
#360Mentor
@LifestyleAlt compares our bodies to a car that needs regular movement as a way to maintain it.

True functionality of the body is dependent on how you move your body.

#360Mentor
Healthy lifestyles should not be only about looking good; It should be about enabling your body to "have your back" Service the body regularly

@LifestyleAlt

#360Mentor
A healthy body should have more muscle than fat and @LifestyleAlt encourages deliberate eating choices to build muscle in addition to exercise.

#360Mentor
Metabolism is the speed at which the body breaks down food and turns it into an energy source.
This is impacted by sedentary lifestyles with little or no physical activity thus @LifestyleAlt encourages physical activity.
Even if U eat small portions, without muscle, it is potea.
@LifestyleAlt says "leave internet diets". Learn how the body works and how to select food items so that it is sustainable and you are not restricted by location and time.
#360Mentor
Men, your waist circumference should not be above 40 and for females, it should not be above 35.

The waist circumference is an indicator of the amount of fat vs muscle in the body.

@LifestyleAlt
#360Mentor
@LifestyleAlt guides that it is better to start a healthy lifestyle early to counter the aspects of the body like drop in testerone for the men and decrease in bone density for the women. Activities like strength training support with this.
#360Mentor
For a healthy lifestyle, alternate the physical activity between strength training and cardio depending on your target. Do this in addition to mobility exercises.

The exercise goes hand in hand with feeding💡
@LifestyleAlt
We all have different body types depending on the metabolic rates, some fast others slow. This guides discussions on the nutrition and will determine which food types you should eat and in what quantity.
@LifestyleAlt

#360Mentor
The food choices should be guided by availability, affordability and your enjoyment of them.
They should be natural and not processed though.

Through this you manage your diet yourself and there is sustainability and it becomes a lifestyle.

@LifestyleAlt
#360Mentor
Sustainable healthy eating is about balance otherwise it leads to binge eating later.

Try and eat at least 3 hours before bed to allow your body process the food.

@LifestyleAlt

#360Mentor
@LifestyleAlt recommends that a coach should not be a forever thing, they should teach you how to be self reliant, and then you apply the teachings for sustenance.
#360Mentor
Fibre is the most satisfying thing and for a healthy lifestyle, one needs to include that in their diet.
#360Mentor
In creating a healthy lifestyle, @LifestyleAlt advises that you specify goals in terms of strength and maintain records so that you keep challenging yourself.
Do things you enjoy. Could be dancing, football etc.
#360Mentor
Thank you @LifestyleAlt , you have equipped several people with ways on how to beat "Covid weight"🙊 and keep it off for good.
Thank you @rkabushenga and @Comrade_Otoa for hosting, @davidkangye for full transcript and click link for recording.

#360Mentor. In a few days, we start a new year and this is usually a time of self reflection and goal setting.If career growth is on your list of goals or aspirations, come along.@TioKauma speaks career growth as @rkabushenga
and @Comrade_Otoa host
twitter.com/i/spaces/1Yqxo…
There is a mindset change in several people that they are more than where they work. This is one of the reasons for the great resignation where people are leaving jobs bse their eyes are open to what they can achieve without being in a specific place or bound by time.
@TioKauma
Time is ripe for employers to change the work dynamics(improved EVPs) bse of the impact of the pandemic and the increasing Work From Home(WFH) and flexibility in hours.
Organisations that don't align risk losing talent to organisations that are applying or 2 do their own stuff.

#360Mentor discussions on career always have a new vibe because the experiences are as diverse as the people you listen to on the topic.
@J_Nkiriki,a PHD fellow joins @rkabushenga and
@Comrade_Otoa to speak about shaping careers.
Come along! twitter.com/i/spaces/1OwGW…
@J_Nkiriki acknowledges that she is where she is because she took the counsel of one of her cousins that her undergrad degree should not limit her.
She also had mentors from her networks that enabled her gain insight from females that were in the same field.
#360Mentor
Her first experience with rejection was from applying with the mindset that she could learn even when she did not have the requirements, something that many men do but females shun. That didn't deter her but rather propelled it, even refining her resume to increase her chances.

@AgaSekalala, MD of UgaChick clarifies family businesses as one where at least 2 or more family members are involved in the ownership(at the start) and the management of the business. Doesn't count if you're employees or workers in the business.
#360Mentor
The common family businesses in Africa are:
1. Husband and wife(1 is involved in raising capital and the other the operations)
2. 2 Brothers
3. Cousins who have grown up,know each other and understand each other however in the academic sense is a normal partnership
#360Mentor
On vision bearers for family businesses being patriarchal, @AgaSekalala confirms it is common place where a founder established a biz for different reasons including adversity. This founder knows the problem they are trying to solve/opportunity they are trying to grab

The name @ArapapabySanta is synonymous with classy fashion. She has scaled the heights and the world. How has she remained relevant and around for the past 20 years?

Come find out on this space👇 hosted by @rkabushenga and @Comrade_Otoa
twitter.com/i/spaces/1nAKE…
I can still remember @ArapapabySanta strutting elegantly when she would visit her sister Ms.Jane who was an art teacher at school in UMSSN. We would stare in awe.
Seeing her scale the heights in fashion years later, many of us were not surprised.

#360Mentor
As a refugee in South Sudan, with her family and mother, @ArapapabySanta reflects on a season of unrest with gun shots,bombs, lots of uncertainty and being fed by the UN.

Things got tough for her mum who handed her over to her Grandpa who unfortunately passed on.

Many of us have heard about BNI however may have some questions around what they do and who they are, the Country Director of BNI @DNKibuuka is on to share about the power of effective networking though BNI.
@rkabushenga @Comrade_Otoa

twitter.com/i/spaces/1YpKk…
@DNKibuuka , uses an analogy from a book by Adam Grant "Give and Take- Why Helping Others Drives Our Success" in which he categories people as givers, matchers and takers.
Givers burn out, matchers survive and takers are eventually thrown out.

#360Mentor
@DNKibuuka explains that @BNI_official_pg operates on the principal that if there are more givers, then everyone benefits.

In Networks, what value are you bringing? What are you giving?
She says you cannot be the one always taking. Always give something of value

@edgarkasenene is with us this evening talking about Digitech and the future.

Is the future of DigiTech now? Is it 5 years from now or even 20?

Come along and find out.
@rkabushenga and @Comrade_Otoa are hosting as always.

twitter.com/i/spaces/1rmxP…
While part of a team in Rwanda with Ericsson and working on smart cities, @edgarkasenene realized that 4G had started to grow and the value of data had started to drop because it was more available.
#360Mentor
Consumption of data has also gone up and people have started looking for cheaper internet options.

@edgarkasenene volunteered for a role called Internet of Things(IOT)and went on an executive programme, getting obsessed with changing the way of work from the old to the new.
