Watching “They Live” for the 1st time

Then “The Thing”

Catching up on some John Carpenter
So far the economy of language is exquisite

“They Live” was based on a short story

Makes me want to revisit that form

Just had a vivid nightmare

Can’t describe it all

A bridge had collapsed; a bus crashed thru it. There was chaos & a party among the chaos

Then a war began. Children running away from captors by the thousands
I joined many in charging in across a highway & river to join a massive battle. We helped children thru barbed wires onto slide-like escapes

I kept having to retreat to different battles, taking multiple blows to the head & body,
then back into the fray
Then I had to jump down a cliff from thru barbed wire & iron girders until I richocheted into a metal bar & was knocked unconscious & sank under water for 20 minutes

The current drew me back up & over

I woke up gasping for air

I’ve stepped back & taken a 40k-foot look at how the journey looks so far,

& a picture has emerged

We had specific expectations of 17 (especially timing) - often.

1/ I saw a recommendation to read “Trust Us, We’re Experts!”, an exposé on how powers manipulate public opinion

22 pages into a 300+ book my mind is already blown

especially for a book written in 2001
