We offer suggestions on how to talk about #firearms, #suicide, and #communityviolence ... we hope it's a useful starting point

It's critical to engage affected communities - including firearm owners - and attention to language may help build trust and partnership

Similarly, #SuicidePrevention needs to engage those with lived experience - and language is equally important. We offer a few examples (h/t to excellent existing resources, e.g. reportingonsuicide.org)

And of course engagement of affected communities and trusted messengers is key for preventing #CommunityViolence - check out @TheHAVI for excellent work in this space

This is a starting point, and we couldn't cover everything (kids, domestic violence, military/Veteran, etc).

There's more work to do, and we look forward to discussion and refinement.
