Good morning. The US and UK are indefinitely imprisoning one of the most consequential journalists of our generation in a high-security prison for exposing their crimes and, more so, for reporting critically on Hillary Clinton. Most US/UK journalists are indifferent to supportive
I spoke to @jimmy_dore for 30 minutes about the severe injustice of the Assange prosecution, the lies told by NBC and CNN's @Acosta to justify it, and especially the tepid indifference on parts of the left (at best) to this case. Here's why, in 2 parts:

Since the end of WW2, vehement opposition to the Deep State -- the US security services: CIA, FBI, NSA --was foundational to left-wing politics. Now they barely care about that at all, and thus don't value Assange's heroic work, because those agencies were allies against Trump:
It's revealing - and encouraging - that the most vehement voices in Assange's defense are anti-establishment voices on the right and left. Tucker went on a multi-episode crusade for his pardon. Chomsky, Ellsberg, @CiroGomes, Corbyn have as well. Yesterday, Lula & Dilma spoke out.
I've been mentioning @Acosta because of how repellent it is that he depicted himself in a book as some sort of brave, endangered dissident-journalist when Assange is actually that.

But I never knew Acosta *defended* Assange's prosecution until @jimmy_dore showed me the video:
While leaders from around the world on both the anti-establishment left and right vehemently denounce the Biden DOJ's ongoing attempt to keep Assange in prison, there are 2 notable exceptions on the US left who have said nothing about the court "victory" ordering him extradited:
When the prosecution of Assange had an anti-Trump angle, media outlets were able to get some Dems to tepidly speak out. But now that it's the Biden DOJ aggressively trying to keep Assange in prison, the silence is as deafening as it is predictable:

Add these leading Australian officials to the long list of world leaders who are condemning the Biden Administration for its ongoing persecution of Assange and demanding Assange's release. Hopefully some figures on the US left can find their voice soon:

The Australian Deputy Prime Minister, Barnaby Jones, is a right-wing politician. It's really worth reading his emphatic comments opposing Assange's extradition to the US, along with Liberal MP Bridget Archer, who demanded Assange's immediate release:

smh.com.au/politics/feder…
I finally found someone who has been a national leader of the Democratic Party at some point over the last decade willing to speak up and emphatically condemn the Biden Administration for the gravest attack on press freedom in years:

The French Left weighs in strongly (cc: @AOC, @BernieSanders)
"A day of mourning" -- former Ecuadorian President Rafeal Correa, who bravely defied US/UK threats to grant Assange asylum, knowing the US would do anything to nab him and put him in a cage for life.

The difference between this & the US Left is stunning:

There's a strong politics around the world that realizes that the US Deep State -- CIA, NSA, FBI -- are grave menaces to everything decent, and views fighting against them as heroic.

Then there's the establishment wings of the US Dem Party & GOP & UK establishment liberalism.

American liberals have spread mass neurosis. Remember this is the same @imillhiser who -- before he was at @voxdotcom, when he worked for @NeeraTandem -- kept tweeting every day that he hadn't yet been arrested by Trump and would tweet every day until it was no longer true.🤣 ImageImage
This person - working inside a lavishly funded think tank called the Center for American Progress: funded by the UAE, Silicon Valley and Wall Street giants - really earnestly tweeted this in 2017 for months until he realized Trump didn't give a shit about Ian and wasn't coming. Image
Think what it does to someone to be daily told by their media outlets that Republicans are coming to impose a fascist coup and put them into Nazi concentration camps -- which is what they believe -- and that Russia has taken control of the US through clandestine blackmail.

The soft left in the US will wave the free speech banner for 24 hours or so -- like that time when @NathanJRobinson, after having spent 5 years mocking the idea that "cancel culture" existed, screamed bloody murder because he claimed the Guardian fired him for criticizing Israel.
Here's one of the Twitch streamers who got suspended yesterday for calling white people "crackers" -- which Twitch regards as a racist slur -- explaining how vital it is that free speech be limited.

Listen to this shit: free speech can be saved only if there is censorship:
I've long thought that the only thing that will rid the authoritarian wing of the liberal-left of its adoration of censorship regimes is when it starts to consume them, as it inevitably will. ImageImage

In 1991, Oliver Stone was the most celebrated director in Hollywood, having won 2 Oscars in 4 years. Instead of cashing in, he used his platform to make "JFK," the first mainstream cultural product to question the official JFK narrative. He was pilloried and destroyed for it.
The vicious reaction to that film on the part of the corporate press was insane. Go read it. But it resulted in opening up the archives. His new documentary -- "JFK Revisited" -- leaves no doubt for any rational person that the Warren Commission story is a lie, a cover-up.
Even Stone's critics admit that this new documentary destroys the lone shooter/Oswald theory which the US Govt fed the public for years. The film doesn't try to answer who actually killed JFK, but I urge everyone to watch it and decide for yourselves.

I've had conflict with almost every political faction in the past 15 years in multiple countries, and none has deployed the age-old trope about gay men 0- we're predatory pedophiles -- more than the left. My husband is a 36-year-old Congressman but it's their go-to insult. ImageImage
One reason bigoted tropes are so common on the left -- they're so comfortable with racist insults of all kinds, they hurl bigoted stereotypes at the slightest inkling -- is because they believe they're so enlightened and morally evolved that it can't be malignant when they do it.
Given the latest outbreak on the liberal-left of all the standard homophobic and racist tropes about @davidmirandario - he's just a dumb, manipulated boy - this was begun by @JeffreyToobin on CNN during the Snowden reporting, repeatedly calling David an empty-headed drug "mule." ImageImage

By far the greatest amount of disinformation and Fake News comes not from QAnon, FB or random YouTubers, but the largest media corporations.

He's a segment on MSNBC where @JoeNBC and @clairecmc spent 2 minutes straight telling one outright lie after the next on the Assange case:
I'm going to write about this segment because I don't mean that Scarborough and McCaskill expressed dubious views, but that each of the lies they told are demonstrably false.

The ones who yell loudest about disinformation are those who spread it most. NBC lies like this daily.
Democrats are everything they accuse Trump and Fox of being.

Their networks -- NBC & CNN -- spread lies daily as disinformation outlets.

They want their enemies censored, imprisoned, silenced. The ones who write Atlantic essays on democracy are the most virulent authoritarians.

Does it take any effort to see why "socialists" who threaten nobody and do nothing hate those like Julian Assange who actually risk meaningful aspects of their lives to confront real power centers?

Again, Assange is what so many posers pretend to be, so they hate him for it.
How come CIA, NSA, UK security services, DOJ, NATO governments, western power centers have no interest in Hasan Piker? Why don't they regard him as a threat? Why aren't they trying to arrest and silence him? He literally hands a radical flag on his wall during Twitch streams. ☭
After denouncing "Assange stans" as creepy fascists who belong on the Jimmy Dore show in the above clip, @hasanthehun wants everyone to know that he then bravely said he is opposed to Assange being in "forever jail." What a stirring condemnation of the Biden Administration. ✊
