2. When #Discon #Worldcon was dealing with the challenges of Covid/the closure of the main con hotel, the con polled members to get a sense of what would be preferred:
A virtual con, trying to run the con in August, or switching to a live con in December, at what was described at the time as a SMALLER hotel.
Not a "hotel with potentially challenging facilities."

So the then-membership discussed and voted without complete information.
That's not on the current leads of the con, who were not there when that vote went down. But.

I mention this because it's yet another example of the ongoing problems I'm discussing here.
The conrunners at the time said that they were committed to accessibility and open communications. And yet.

And that's part of the pattern I keep encountering over and over and over again.
It's not just that fan run genre cons (and writing cons) keep booking inaccessible places.
