@Hbamulinde is back to talk about personal growth which is really the foundation for success in pursuit of dreams.
Come along if that's something you're passionate about or need to embark on in 2022.
Hosted by @rkabushenga and @Comrade_Otoa

twitter.com/i/spaces/1gqGv…
@Hbamulinde says:
1. Planning is personal
2. It is not an adhoc activity
3. It must be written down

@_360Mentor is the twitter account of #360Mentor
According to @Hbamulinde, the 3 opportunities in Ug r in
1. Oil and Gas
The industry is big, will attract lots of foreign investment(expatriates) & will require lots of manual labour as well.
This creates demand for several services eg food, accommodation, travel etc
#360Mentor
There is alot of information on the Internet on oil and gas thus a good resource to understand the ripple effects/impact of O&G in the countries where oil exploration is already happening.

@Hbamulinde
@_360Mentor
Number 2 and 3 opportunities from O&G are
1. Real Estate
2. Hospitality to enable recreation and relaxation for those involved in O&G
@Hbamulinde
@_360Mentor

All these also create jobs as well💡
About side hustles, @Hbamulinde advises that one should start with what is close to them, where they are at that opportune moment.

His personal experience was 2 learn about where he was. Figure out where the organisation is spending money/what solutions are required
@_360Mentor
Principles to govern money in 2022:
@Hbamulinde says money is jealous; if U abuse it now, it will revenge thus one mustn't mismanage it.
"Save it so that it saves U in the future"
1. Earn it
2. Save it
3. Nurture it
4. Invest it
@_360Mentor
@Hbamulinde says that a measure of growth is an improvement in different aspects of your life e.g knowledge, networks, finances etc

@_360Mentor
Decisions on investment should not be based on speculation as they can put one's integrity/reputation at risk.

They should be driven by solid insights like how many are affected by the problem? What is the value of the business? How sustainable is it?
@Hbamulinde
#360Mentor
Your immediate friends and family are your first source of capital.
This however is based on how much trust they have in you and bse of that they can show understanding when things don't go as planned.

The other source is partnerships.
@Hbamulinde
#360Mentor
The thumb rule that @Hbamulinde recommends for partnerships is that the partner should have an equal stake in both time and money.

#360Mentor
@Hbamulinde 's principles for life for next year:
1. Having an open mind to respond to the rapid changes. Era of VUCA(Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity)
Drop the notion "This is how it has always worked"
#360Mentor
2. Experience new experiences - explore nature
The conversation veered to other interesting stuff but from the Tweetchat earlier, here are the 10 principles in full

#360Mentor
To a dean of a business school, @Hbamulinde would propose practical life skills like:
1.Ability 2 commercialize ideas in the real world.
2. Money management: money in it's different forms, how to make it, saving and investment etc.
3. Selling oneself - self belief
#360Mentor
For a land owner seeking to earn from it before developing, @Hbamulinde advises
1. Lease on practical timelines till you're ready to develop it.
2.If in Kampala, lease it out for commercial activities
3. Could be your equity contribution in a venture with partners
#360Mentor
When investing in real estate, @Hbamulinde's thoughts are:
Do research - Don't buy the first piece of land you come across, base on trends in terms of development and better away from the CBD so that you can get good rates.
Consider looking in areas closer &do joint ventures.
Real estate Ctd:
@Hbamulinde further recommends that you look for the owner of the land and negotiate payments in chunks to give you time.💡

#360Mentor
@Hbamulinde's nuggets for the men:
1. Sacrifice as a way to achieve your purpose. Be a target worker!
2. Put in the work.

#360Mentor
Thank you @Hbamulinde . Another great session to enlighten and challenge us on the things that can support us in achieving dreams.
Gratitude to the hosts @rkabushenga and @Comrade_Otoa.

#360Mentor. In a few days, we start a new year and this is usually a time of self reflection and goal setting.If career growth is on your list of goals or aspirations, come along.@TioKauma speaks career growth as @rkabushenga
and @Comrade_Otoa host
twitter.com/i/spaces/1Yqxo…
There is a mindset change in several people that they are more than where they work. This is one of the reasons for the great resignation where people are leaving jobs bse their eyes are open to what they can achieve without being in a specific place or bound by time.
@TioKauma
Time is ripe for employers to change the work dynamics(improved EVPs) bse of the impact of the pandemic and the increasing Work From Home(WFH) and flexibility in hours.
Organisations that don't align risk losing talent to organisations that are applying or 2 do their own stuff.

#360Mentor. It is a truth universally acknowledged that diets are not sustainable for healthy living. The alternative is adopting a healthy life style. Atamba Lakeli @LifestyleAlt is here this evening to speak on that(fitness, nutrition& mental health)
twitter.com/i/spaces/1vOGw…
Come along as @rkabushenga and @Comrade_Otoa host.

@LifestyleAlt is a registered nurse whose personal experience prompted her to seek alternate ways to beat the post-partum depression she went through.

#360Mentor discussions on career always have a new vibe because the experiences are as diverse as the people you listen to on the topic.
@J_Nkiriki,a PHD fellow joins @rkabushenga and
@Comrade_Otoa to speak about shaping careers.
Come along! twitter.com/i/spaces/1OwGW…
@J_Nkiriki acknowledges that she is where she is because she took the counsel of one of her cousins that her undergrad degree should not limit her.
She also had mentors from her networks that enabled her gain insight from females that were in the same field.
#360Mentor
Her first experience with rejection was from applying with the mindset that she could learn even when she did not have the requirements, something that many men do but females shun. That didn't deter her but rather propelled it, even refining her resume to increase her chances.

@AgaSekalala, MD of UgaChick clarifies family businesses as one where at least 2 or more family members are involved in the ownership(at the start) and the management of the business. Doesn't count if you're employees or workers in the business.
#360Mentor
The common family businesses in Africa are:
1. Husband and wife(1 is involved in raising capital and the other the operations)
2. 2 Brothers
3. Cousins who have grown up,know each other and understand each other however in the academic sense is a normal partnership
#360Mentor
On vision bearers for family businesses being patriarchal, @AgaSekalala confirms it is common place where a founder established a biz for different reasons including adversity. This founder knows the problem they are trying to solve/opportunity they are trying to grab

The name @ArapapabySanta is synonymous with classy fashion. She has scaled the heights and the world. How has she remained relevant and around for the past 20 years?

Come find out on this space👇 hosted by @rkabushenga and @Comrade_Otoa
twitter.com/i/spaces/1nAKE…
I can still remember @ArapapabySanta strutting elegantly when she would visit her sister Ms.Jane who was an art teacher at school in UMSSN. We would stare in awe.
Seeing her scale the heights in fashion years later, many of us were not surprised.

#360Mentor
As a refugee in South Sudan, with her family and mother, @ArapapabySanta reflects on a season of unrest with gun shots,bombs, lots of uncertainty and being fed by the UN.

Things got tough for her mum who handed her over to her Grandpa who unfortunately passed on.

Many of us have heard about BNI however may have some questions around what they do and who they are, the Country Director of BNI @DNKibuuka is on to share about the power of effective networking though BNI.
@rkabushenga @Comrade_Otoa

twitter.com/i/spaces/1YpKk…
@DNKibuuka , uses an analogy from a book by Adam Grant "Give and Take- Why Helping Others Drives Our Success" in which he categories people as givers, matchers and takers.
Givers burn out, matchers survive and takers are eventually thrown out.

#360Mentor
@DNKibuuka explains that @BNI_official_pg operates on the principal that if there are more givers, then everyone benefits.

In Networks, what value are you bringing? What are you giving?
She says you cannot be the one always taking. Always give something of value
