Imagine breaking your big toe. And having to wait 20 hours to get help in the ER.

Welcome to #CoVidBurnThrough in Pennsylvania.
The story there?

Same as it is nation-wide. Staffing shortages...and for the same reasons, probably, too.

Lost 18% of HCW's due to quitting last year.

12% more laid off.

31% of those still working, are thinking of leaving.

66% of acute and critical care nurses thinking of leaving.

Why?
If you were treated like this by your boss?
Keeping in mind that 12% of staff were laid off by the administrators?

Knowing how they gave the nurses gratitude journals as thank you's?
Meanwhile, @MonicaGandhi9 and @MartyMakary call for hospitalizations to be the metric.

I wonder how those Pennsylvania HCW's or those on the actual front-line feel about that call?
One last thought. When you went into the ER?

They made you take off your N95, and put on a surgical mask.

Just like everyone else.

20 hours.

Remarks from today's briefing.

A brief 🧵 with other thoughts.

Might want to glance at his speech first...it's very short:

This is really....cool. Especially if you want schools to stay open.

Anyone built one in the States?

Quick 🧵 to walk through it.
The human body is constantly generating a thermal plume that is about .5 mph.

That rises.

If kids are in masks, their respiratory aerosol velocity should be reduced enough for most of it to be carried upward.

Dear Twitter, it is time.

For another educational thread for @TheEliKlein.

Again.
This gain of ability is actually a very big deal.

I find it amusing that Eli wishes to mock this, given he lives in New York City.

A quick side trip down memory lane with some of NYC's 2 million rats.
Subway sleeping rat. Looks close enough to spread delta, much less omicron.

@gary_kelly, SouthWest CEO, masks are essential.

Hospitals have excellent filtration at 6 to 16 ACH.

Doctors still get infected even while wearing surgical masks, because CoVid is airborne.

cnn.com/2021/12/15/bus…

And airplane filtration often fails.

Even on SouthWest.
Did you know that we can roughly measure how much of other people's lung contents we REBREATHE with every breath?

CO2 is an excellent stand-in for the respiratory aerosols that were just in your fellow passengers' lungs.

The more CO2 measured,
the more CO2 AND respiratory aerosols you are breathing in.

For example, 3700 CO2 measured is 8.6% air REBREATHED.

Like if you put your mouth over a buddy's nose and huffed in 10% of his breath.

Where are our free N95/N100's? Our free testing?

We know the elites have free testing and high quality masks.

We know they are hiding them below surgical masks.

In this video from January 2021, @CDCDirector indicates that she thinks N95's are uncomfortable.

LongCoVid hitting 45% of all cases is uncomfortable (multiple studies).

But we are not restricted to N95's. N100's are very comfortable, and you can use them for up to a
year before replacing the filters.

It would cost only 6 billion dollars at scale to get every single child, man, and woman in one.

The British did it in WW1.

#WalenskyMustGo #ZientsMustGo

@CDCDirector and @JeffreyZients have a lack of imagination and determination.

They have clearly not advocated masks for the American people.

Not all N95's are uncomfortable.

Video here:
cnn.com/videos/health/…
We have very comfortable N100's available.

People will wear masks if they are informed of the risk properly.

Comfortable or not.

80% of Americans want mask mandates.

Only 10% of America lives under a mandate.

Yet 53% of Americans wear them.

43% of Americans wearing masks WITHOUT MANDATES.
