A school board meeting in Florida was evacuated last night after a Proud Boy attacked someone.

This particular PB has a rap sheet which includes carrying a concealed unlicensed firearm and trying to fight cops.

But don’t worry, Gov @RonDeSantisFL is helping… sue teachers?
Clarification: Wednesday night - Dec 15. I didn't take "Miami time" + my insomnia into account.
This event has received precisely ZERO coverage because no reporters were there.

Video: Proud Boy affiliate begins speaking at around 5hrs, 20 mins, accusing Board of conspiracy to cover up pedophilia. Board abruptly evacuates at just after 5hrs, 36 mins

As I'm writing this, only 276 people have viewed the Board's video on Twitter. Retweeted 4 times, liked 6 times. Though it was broadcast elsewhere, this highlights the problem of local school boards being under constant threat of violence and there being no local coverage of it.

False equivalency between extremism left and right here is incredibly inaccurate (see FBI crime data) and irresponsible (disinformation feeds extremism).

Equating “the left wants taxes on people in my tax bracket to rise” with rightwing *deadly* racism, trans/homophobia, sexism?
Anyone who watches @JohnAvlon in the morning knows that he knows better than this. I’ve heard him do segments on the false equivalency problem. Frankly, I’m not just angry about this, I’m confused. How could he look at this graphic and approve, let alone say the words?

If you’re in the DC area and see Penske, UHaul, or similar trucks that aren’t filled with freight, take out your camera and start filming. That’s how the Patriot Front typically gets in and out of the city. They’re likely staying at a private residence in nearby rural/suburbs.
Moving trucks will be noticeable because they’ll be staged together or traveling in a convoy. The trucks, if moving, are likely to have dozens of men inside at the moment. If @DCPoliceDept pulls them over — unmask to identify members of the nation’s most active hate group.
If you live in #DC, #Maryland or #Virginia, you should be calling on your governor to put state troopers on alert, and immediately begin investigations to find out where the Patriot Front is traveling to and from. This hate group’s objective is genocide. Members live near you.

NEW: Last night nazis of Charlottesville-riot-infamy instructed thousands of followers to mass-report accounts of 48 journalists, anti-racist activists, + anti-fascist researchers for retroactive "violations" of @TwitterSafety's new "Private Information Policy." Some down already

My childhood dream of Army service became a living nightmare. At 19, my job was to document torture, death. Mutilated human faces stuck in my mind's eye. It left me incredibly vulnerable in so many ways.

I've been lucky to find other ways to serve, heal.

2/ For years after I got out of the Army I had frequent, incredibly vivid nightmares of my friends getting hurt or killed. It quickly reached a point where I couldn't remember which of my friends were casualties in real life.
3/ As a way to help with my constant confusion, I kept every issue of the @MilitaryTimes, which was the only print publication I knew of at the time to print the names and photos of every KIA in Iraq and Afghanistan. I kept them stuffed in a bag, with photos I had taken in Iraq.

The committee's Majority staff have a draft of the statement for the record that I had prepared, and are free to use the information within as they deem appropriate to inform their investigation and their Members.
3/ After weeks of struggling with it, I ultimately decided not to submit a statement for the record because I felt that I could not self-censor and withhold certain content for the sole purpose of "not triggering Republican Members of the Committee."

Fascists, ethno-nationalists, want to exterminate certain groups of Americans. They’re responsible for more deaths and more terrorist attacks in US than foreign groups.

Socialists want to tax the rich.

These things are not equally problematic, Wade.

Prioritize your resources.
The root of the disconnect here is that Republicans are so married to using hyperbole when labeling their political opponents that words become meaningless. When I say “fascism,” I mean it in the literal sense. When they say “socialism,” it’s never clear.
As @VOBOE points out, almost every aspect of the US military is about as close as you can get to a meets-the-definition example of a socialist institution, but this is an affiliation Wade embraces. But seriously — I don’t understand what Wade considers a “threat” by “socialists.”
