Getting a booster shot in Alberta for my partner and I … a rant. I booked our #COVID19 booster shot online using the #ahs website as per #abgov for this morning at 10am at a local pharmacy. Awesome, process seemed simple. Arrived this am at 10:02 bc it wasn’t well marked

.. there is a sign on the door saying they are out of Covid-19 shots. We go in anyway because surely they mean walk ins right? NOPE. No call, no text .. the pharmacy assistant is just “starting” to call people. We are annoyed but ok, go to the car and rebook.

After searching a 100km radius, we find two appts today for 5pm and 5:10pm in High River (we are in Calgary).. 40 minute drive but worth it to get it done before Christmas right? Ok, good to go. We do rapid tests (negative) and head to a family Christmas gathering.

We explain to the family we have to leave really early but it’s worth it to get that booster right? We work in human services so it’s the best thing we can do to #protect ourselves and others. Family all agrees even if they are disappointed. Off we go to High River!

… get there just before 5pm to the pharmacy. It’s dark. Locked. No one there. No one answering the phone. You have GOT to be kidding….. we check to make sure there isn’t another pharmacy by the same name.. nope. Now we are livid. #UCPFAIL .. again.

So we go on the website and book for Monday. Later than we wanted but … do what you can right!? BUT WAIT! There is MORE. We get into the vehicle, and figure we should hit up #peavymart (highly recommend fyi). While grabbing a few things … a text!

It’s #GOA informing us our Monday appointments are CANCELLED due to distribution disruptions. What the FUCK UCP. Most incompetent shitty government ever. The fact more Albertans are not dead is in spite of you, not because of you. Because we are smarter than your crap. 🤬🤬

Update: Because I am sucker for punishment - we have another booked appointment for 10am. This is more out of curiosity at this point. Will update in a while. And yes, we have a back up plan! 😏 Thank you to everyone who helped & gave support, it made it easier to deal with.

Another update: went to call to confirm they have doses for us before driving there .. they don’t open until 10. The time of the appt 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣.. guess we are off on an adventure again this morning!

Update 3: 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 the pharmacy is brand new and the pharmacist was working alone! Amazing guy! He had 240 appts book in an hour last night. He is going to be a busy person today I think. Thank you Millrise Pharmacy.
