To those of you who say that I’m the only thing keeping you sane when I poke holes in the media’s doomsday hysteria: why are you listening to all that doomsday hysteria to begin with? Stop listening to it, and you won’t need me to keep you sane 🙂
If you know you’re just going to come to me so I can disprove the doomsday stuff, then you already know that the doomsday stuff is easily disproven manipulative nonsense. So why expose to it yourself to begin with? Don’t let yourself be manipulated like that.
The doomsday pundits don’t care if you keep figuring out that they’re full of it. They only care that you keep tuning in, so they can keep getting the exposure and ratings. Until you turn them off, they’re still getting the only thing they care about.
Repeatedly tuning in for the doomsday hysteria does not make you “vigilant.”

It means you’re being emotionally manipulated for ratings.

And it means the media will keep feeding you doomsday hysteria as long as it keeps resulting in ratings.

Turn it off.
“But I need to hear both sides!”

No you don’t. Not when one side is “we’re all doomed no matter what.” That’s not a side, it’s a sick punchline.

Then you force me to spend most of my time disproving that defeatist horse shit, leaving me less time for straight up analysis.
You don’t see this absurd doomsday nonsense outside of political punditry. There aren’t a bunch of sports pundits insisting that the team that won the game actually lost the game, or that the first place team is in worse shape than the last place team.
Yet in politics there’s this deranged notion (on the left at least) that says you’re only being “vigilant” if you spend at least half your time listening to pundits who tell you that you’re losing even if you’re winning, and that you’re going to lose no matter what.
Ironically, in sports you can be defeatist about your team and it doesn’t matter, because you’re just a fan and you play no role in the outcome anyway.

But in political activism you’re a participant, so if you’re a defeatist, you can cause your own very good team to lose.
But it is disturbing that sports, which frankly doesn’t matter beyond entertainment value, has far more honest punditry than any punditry you’ll find in politics, which is life and death. You’d think it would be the opposite.
Most followers of sports mistakenly think they’re playing a role in the outcome.

Most followers of politics mistakenly think they’re NOT playing a role in the outcome.

Each time Steve Bannon gets up and announces that he's going to take over the country, he does a belly flop and ends up getting arrested. The only reason this clown still has oxygen is because we keep giving it to him by cowering to his delusional threats. Just laugh in his face.
There are real threats to this country, many of which we should be fighting against every day. But Steve Bannon magically waiting an army of werewolves and seizing control of the federal government is a joke. Even he knows it. He just says this stuff to raise money from idiots.
The media and the pundits also surely know that Bannon's laughable threats are just nonsense he comes up with so he can line his pockets. But "Bannon is an evil genius who's going to take over the country and we're doomed" is a ratings-friendly narrative, so it always gets hyped.

Not long ago it was reported that the DOJ is deep into investigating Sidney Powell for using the Big Lie to fraudulently raise money. Now it turns out the 1/6 committee is looking to criminally refer Donald Trump to the DOJ for the same thing. That’s probably not a coincidence.
It’s unclear how these pieces fit together.

Is the committee going this route because it saw the headline and realized the DOJ is willing to criminally prosecute the election overthrow on a financial fraud basis?

Have the DOJ and the committee been coordinating this all along?
Keep in mind that when news leaks about a still-in-progress federal investigation, it’s usually just an isolated piece of the story. Would the DOJ really go after just Powell, a somewhat minor player in the Big Lie, while ignoring everyone else who fraudulently fundraised on it?

It's now leaking that Manchin's "final offer" to Biden included nearly everything currently in Build Back Better except the child tax credit. Biden said no, he wanted it all, so Manchin pulled his stunt.

It's obviously going to get done, just a question of what's in or out.
It was pretty obvious when Manchin went on TV that he was just trying to get Biden to cave on whatever the final sticking point was.

But with a thousand pundits yelling "it'll all over, it's dead" in your ear, it's understandable why you maybe couldn't see the obvious.
It's also clear that Manchin is feeling the heat from the pressure we've been all putting on him all day, because he's likely the one who leaked that he's actually willing to cave on most of it. Now is the time to ramp UP the pressure on him.

There's a reason Jen Psaki isn't making this press conference about Joe Manchin. Manchin wants this all to play out in public, so he can leverage the defeatists' fears against Biden. But Biden has more leverage if he takes Manchin to the woodshed behind the scenes. Which he will.
You think Biden doesn't have dirt or other leverage on someone as corrupt and full of it as Manchin? Of course he does. But he can't do that in public. Has to be in private. 95% of political maneuvering takes place behind closed doors anyway.
Meanwhile, YOUR job is to keep publicly pressuring Manchin to cave. Manchin wants to be able to say to Biden, "I've got your base cowering and hiding under their desks and ready to give up on politics." Biden wants to be able to say "no, my base knows I'm going to kick your ass."

Today’s a great day to be off Twitter. The defeatist losers on our side, and the scumbag pundits who pander to the defeatists’ broken brains, have taken over today. Let’s go watch football, let these losers tire themselves out, and we’ll get back to fighting and winning tomorrow.
The defeatists WANT to lose. They’re either so clinically depressed that losing comforts them, or they’re such rage addicts that they want to lose so they can feel more outrage. The defeatists are NOT political activists. They’re dangerous zombies. We have to work around them.
Like any other zombies, if the hordes of defeatists get ahold of you, they’ll turn you into one of them – a mentally unsound person with a shattered mind who thinks “activism” means going around insisting you’re going to lose no matter what. These types are your SWORN ENEMY.

Ever since New York first went after Trump’s tax returns, THE story has been that if Trump lost reelection he’d end up in prison. But the media ignored this, and Palmer Report took shit (from both sides) for being the only one to say it. Now everyone’s finally starting to see it.
Trump knew he was going to end up in a New York prison if he lost. It’s why he went to such desperate, delusional, and self defeating lengths to try to steal /overthrow the election. Those were the actions of a man who knew his life was over if he left office.
Yet the media ignored the huge story that Trump was on track for state prison if he lost, and instead went with the false narrative that if Trump lost he could just magically stay in office forever no matter what. False and absurd, but scarier, and thus more ratings-friendly.
