Between 1 Jan and 31 Oct 2021, the monthly age-standardised mortality rates (ASMRs) for deaths involving #COVID19 have been consistently lower for people who received a second dose of the vaccine at least 21 days ago compared with unvaccinated people ow.ly/kabn50Hfeuq Chart title: Monthly ASMRs ...
Over the whole period (1 Jan to 31 Oct 2021), the age-adjusted risk of deaths involving #COVID19 was 96% lower in people who had received a second dose at least 21 days ago compared with unvaccinated people ow.ly/kabn50Hfeuq
The difference in age-adjusted risk of deaths involving #COVID19 for people who had received a second dose at least 21 days ago compared with unvaccinated individuals varied from 99% (in Feb) to 78% (in Oct) ow.ly/kabn50Hfeuq
These changes can be caused by various factors, such as changes in

▪️ the composition of the group
▪️ background COVID-19 infection rates
▪️ levels of immunity from prior infection
▪️ dominant variants and seasonal changes in mortality rates

➡️ ow.ly/kabn50Hfeuq
The age-adjusted rates are not equivalent to measures of vaccine effectiveness.

They account for differences in age structure and population size, but there may be other differences between groups which could partly explain the differences in the rates ow.ly/kabn50Hfeuq
Changes in non #COVID19 mortality by vaccination status are largely driven by the changing composition of the vaccination status groups ow.ly/kabn50Hfeuq
These changes are because of the prioritisation of the clinically extremely vulnerable and people with underlying health conditions, and differences in timing of vaccination among people who were eligible ow.ly/kabn50Hfeuq
