No surprise to me. It was always going to happen.

Several recent incidents but: IMO he should have answered O'Reilly's booster question more fully. He's never been good at impromptu questions: GOP minders largely protected him until 11/4/20.

Aivalis mentions cartoonist Ben Garrison, who was ALWAYS opposed to Trump but came out against him in early 2017.

Garrison is the one with all the unashamed antisemitic, xenophobic, and racist cartoons. Hated Kushner and McMaster especially.

The far right took over the GOP.
The real villains in all of this are the R leadership such as Kevin McCarthy. If the party had disavowed Trump after 1/6 and stuck to that position, the US wouldn't be in such a vulnerable state right now domestically and internationally.

Voting rights are top priority.
After voting rights, next priority should be saving lives that are put at risk by the pandemic.

Every elected official in Washington, DC should be totally focused on these real world crises instead of trying to run out the clock on investigating the GOP terrorist attack on 1/6.
Yes, I know that won't happen.

Still gonna keeping saying it. We have to, all of us who are pro-democracy. The US is the only global superpower. Foreign adversaries like Putin have almost reached their goal of collapsing it from the inside out.

Rs did this. Not just Trump.

#HospitalCollapseKills by destroying the life-saving hospital access on which we rely for NON-Covid illness & injury.

Is the vax a "personal choice"? Technically yes. Morally, no.

Vaccine deniers cause death, indirectly. I make no apologies for saying it. I could save a life.
Of course, some vaccine deniers also fervently believe they could save lives by dissuading people from being vaccinated against Covid.

Both of us are motivated to promote our belief, as a life and death matter. The difference is that my belief is based on verifiable facts...
Vaccine denial is a mind virus that's been around since vaccines were first used more than a century ago.

Between pandemics, saying that it kills innocent people is a longer bow to draw than during a pandemic in which a safe and effective vaccine is available and accessible.

I've never been more proud of my country, New Zealand.

At first I was skeptical about our left-leaning government's pandemic response, then I saw our right-leaning oppo call for ending all restrictions before our double-vaxxed rate passed 90%. That would've killed thousands.
It's a surreal moment, the first time you realize that one of your country's two largest political parties is fine about needlessly killing thousands of people, including potentially oneself, just for their poll numbers.

Anyway, I'm cresting a wave of joy right now...
And I haven't been doing lines of cocaine like a certain former US president's son does now every time he appears on camera.

Thread: How I approach a news story before commenting on it.

In 2019 Rogel Aguilera-Mederos drove a truck that lost it's brakes, accelerated as it went downhill, then crashed into stationary traffic, killing 4 & injuring others.
In the public and media frenzy to denounce the 110 year mandatory minimum sentence, a lot of signal is being lost to noise.

Pertinent facts are being omitted or downplayed in media coverage, as far as I've seen at this stage.

Misuse of the term "accident" is part of this.
Aguilera-Mederos & his millions of supporters use the term accident to imply that his actions were not at least partially at fault in this collision. Certainly his employer is partially at fault & must be held accountable. But that doesn't mean the employer is solely responsible.

I watch a lot of these clips and this is a good one. If you've been wondering why Mark Meadows is so dumb and so craven, here is the answer.

The lesson: We must NEVER let this happen again.

There's a ton of important points in the above clip about Jan 6 and the Republican party's authoritarian path in general.

It's got me thinking again about why I decided to run for the hills on 1/6. We all have choices and we are accountable for them - to ourselves at least.
I'm just a random spectator and in no way involved in any of this but I still recognized I was at a crossroads. I could either stay in/adjacent to Cult 45, or I could take a stand against it.

Hardly anyone I knew from the cult has left it, like I did.

I so enjoy watching the downfall of T****ism and FOX rn.

To those who exist in reality like me, & have patiently waited for this thing to get going, I say cheers! 🍾

To those under the thrall of a deadly ideology, I say bad luck. Y'all fucked around & now you're finding out.
Exhibit A.

You gotta watch this clip, it's delightful.

Thank you @GeraldoRivera for simply stating facts to the cowardly Hannity and Bongino.

Geraldo's finest moment on screen, I'd say.

I can only add a few current 1/6 related media clips so am picking them as I go. Hundreds of good interviews & other clips from mainstream media, emerging media & podcasters.

Exhibit B.

Anything by PhD level psychologist Dr Mary L Trump is gold:

A lot to note in this clip. The newspaper is being consistent with other candidates (& AP guidance.)

Note how smooth he tries to be as he lies. Even MORE attention to Mehmet Oz will be good for Democrats. He's a handy distillation of all that is wrong with today's R party.
Mehmet Oz could have used his profile to help save lives in the pandemic so far. If he really wants to do all the things he claims to voters in his campaign.

The lack of such a record should be a core plank of the campaign against him in the PA Sen race.
I have long disregarded Mehmet Oz as anything approaching a credible medical voice in the public sphere.

He trained and worked as a cardiothoracic (heart and lung) surgeon. Let that sink in.
